CNN —Two women have accused NFL kicker Brandon McManus of sexually assaulting them while he was on a team flight to London last September for the Jacksonville Jaguars, according to a new lawsuit. The women, identified as Jane Doe 1 and Jane Doe 2 in the lawsuit, worked as flight attendants on the Jaguars’ team-chartered flight on September 28. Both women claim that during meal service on the flight, McManus “grinded” his erect clothed penis against them. McManus also tried to kiss Jane Doe 1 earlier during the flight, according to the lawsuit. McManus, who has since signed a contract to join the Washington Commanders, denies the allegations presented in the lawsuit.

The shooting occurred around 3:25 a.m. PT Saturday, Los Angeles Police Department Officer Tony Im told CNN. For those outside the Westminster bubble, the announcement felt less like a starting pistol than a final gasp. But unlike Sunak, who with his wife Akshata Murty is worth an estimated £651 million ($828 million), most of us can’t afford it. The British economy never fully recovered from the 2008 recession and, consciously or not, most people still feel the sting every day. As Sam Knight recently noted in the New Yorker, the average British worker is estimated to be £14,000 ($17,800) worse off per year now than they would be if earnings had risen at pre-crisis rates. Her disastrous mini-budget wiped £30 billion off the UK economy that autumn, according to independent think tank Resolution Foundation, and sent interest rates rocketing.

☆ Troubling market internals warrant buying some portfolio protection — Here's how

As equity markets print new all-time highs and the CBOE Volatility Index prints 52-week lows, this should be considered as a bullish outlook by all accounts. However, if we look under the hood, the internals during this rally concern me and in my opinion, warrants buying some protection on these all-time highs. If we look at the Sector Rotation RRG Chart, we see that over the past five weeks, the rally in the S & P 500 has been led by utilities, energy and staples. With materials and industrials also rolling over, we simply lack the confidence to call a strong bull market on the recent all-time highs. I'm going out to July and buying the $530 puts on the SPDR S & P 500 ETF Trust (SPY) for $7.35, which is only 1.3% of the SPY's value to buy over 2 months of protection.

Macy's fiscal first-quarter earnings topped Wall Street's expectations on Tuesday, as the retailer said it saw early signs of momentum in its turnaround strategy. Macy's raised its full-year earnings expectations to reflect the first-quarter beat, along with the low end of its sales outlook. That's more than a quarter of namesake Macy's locations. Yet the retailer said it will invest in parts of the business that have fared better, including the roughly 350 Macy's stores that will stay open. It plans to open more Bloomingdale's and Bluemercury locations, and smaller Macy's stores in suburban strip malls.

Cryptocurrencies rallied, led by a surge in ether on growing anticipation of an impending approval of spot ether exchange-traded funds (ETFs) by the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). Against the yen , the dollar rose 0.07% to 156.37 in the early Asian session. However, the still-stark interest rate differentials between the U.S. and Japan maintained the appeal of the yen as a funding currency. Still, the cautious Fed rhetoric has so far done little to significantly alter the market pricing for rate cuts, with investors betting on two cuts this year beginning September. Analysts said the latest crypto rally came on the back of speculation that an approval of spot ether ETFs by the U.S. SEC could be imminent, following in the footsteps of the listing of bitcoin ETFs earlier this year.

Brent crude futures extended gains on Monday, inching up amid political uncertainty in major producing countries after Iran's president died in a helicopter crash and the Saudi crown prince cancelled a Japan trip, citing health issues with the king. Brent gained 10 cents, or 0.1%, to $84.08 a barrel by 0454GMT, after rising to $84.30 earlier, its highest since May 10. He added that WTI prices may rebound further toward $83.50 after rising above the 200-day moving average of $80.02. Despite the volatility in the region, oil prices moved only slightly. "Continuity in Saudi strategy is expected regardless of this health issue," he added.

Melbourne —Australia have confirmed talismanic captain Sam Kerr will miss the women’s Olympic soccer at the Paris Games while recovering from a serious knee injury. The Chelsea striker suffered an anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury at a training camp in Morocco in January and her participation in Paris was highly doubtful.
