Which has me thinking back to one of the viral moments from her husband’s 2020 campaign. On the night of Super Tuesday, as Joe Biden was delivering his celebratory speech at a rally in Los Angeles, two anti-dairy demonstrators rushed the stage, only to run smack up against the protective wall of Dr. Biden. There is an amazing photo of her grimacing and holding a protester at bay by the wrists as Mr. Biden looks on with concern. That is who Dr. Biden is, fiercely and reflexively, when it comes to protecting and supporting her husband. And those looking to recruit her to encourage Mr. Biden to reconsider his presidential bid may sorely misunderstand her — and their marriage.

“We know that the Denisovans lived, occupied the cave and this Tibetan plateau for such a long time, we really want to know, how did they live there? Analysis of bone fragments unearthed during excavations at Baishiya Karst Cave have revealed what animals Denisovans butchered, ate and processed. Traces of Denisovan DNA found in present-day people suggest the ancient species likely once lived across much of Asia. Many of the bones recovered from Baishiya Karst Cave, like this spotted hyena vertebra, contain traces of human activities such as cut marks. Unlike Denisova Cave, which was occupied by early modern humans and Neanderthals as well as Denisovans, current evidence suggests that Denisovans were the only group of humans to live at Baishiya Karst Cave, Zhang said.

Last Thursday, nine weeks after hearing argument, the court dismissed the case as “improvidently granted,” meaning that the court, upon reflection, should not have accepted the case for review. The litigation in the lower federal courts involved a dispute over Idaho’s defiance of that federal law. The case now returns to the lower courts, where it stood before the Supreme Court intervened on the state’s behalf. Dismissal of a case, which happens maybe once or twice a term, has no formal meaning as a precedent and usually not much meaning at all. But it seems to me that the fate of this particular case, Moyle v. United States, has much to tell us about the Supreme Court at a supremely fraught moment.

CNN —Mark Cavendish made cycling history on Wednesday, winning a record-breaking 35th stage at the Tour de France. The 39-year-old has now surpassed legendary cyclist Eddy Merckx after winning a chaotic sprint finish at the end of the 177.4 kilometer fifth stage from Saint-Jean-de-Maurienne to Saint-Vulbas. Breaking Merckx’s record, who last raced in the Tour de France 49 years ago, has seemed almost impossible for any cyclist, even Cavendish. I put a big gamble on this year to make sure we are good here at the Tour de France,” an emotional Cavendish told ITV after the win. His participation in this year’s Tour de France seemed in jeopardy during the first stage, though, as television cameras caught him vomiting on his bike, reportedly struggling from heat exhaustion.

Why the Price of Wood and Lumber Keeps Changing

And then there was lumber mania, when lumber prices soared to records. After peaking in spring 2021, lumber prices briefly collapsed before jumping back up to $1,400 in early 2022. Paul Jannke, a principal at Forest Economic Advisors, said this housing-market malaise is a big problem for the lumber industry. While those in the lumber industry may not be having a fantastic time, if you're in the market for lumber, it's a good time to buy. Jannke said that while the lower lumber prices hadn't resulted in lower housing costs, "homebuilder margins are at or near record levels."

He has openly courted the oil industry at fundraising events, the Washington Post reported, promising regulation rollbacks in exchange for campaign cash.
