ADELAIDE, Nov 10 (Reuters) - Alex Hales and captain Jos Buttler shone in a record unbroken opening partnership as a ruthless England humiliated India by 10 wickets at Adelaide Oval on Thursday to storm into the Twenty20 World Cup final. England, who won the 50-over World Cup on home soil in 2019, can now become the first team to hold both global trophies in white-ball cricket when they meet Pakistan in Sunday's final at the Melbourne Cricket Ground. Their 170-run stand was the biggest opening partnership in T20 World Cup history and England's biggest for any wicket at the tournament. It set up a mouthwatering duel against Pakistan, 30 years on from the teams' 50-over World Cup final in 1992 at the MCG which the south Asians won. England had to make changes for the semi-final, with pace spearhead Mark Wood and number three batsman Dawid Malan out injured.

The law stipulates that sexual consent to one act does not guarantee consent to other acts.
SYDNEY, Nov 9 (Reuters) - New Zealand skipper Kane Williamson was frustrated by his team's sub-par performance as their Twenty20 World Cup dream ended with defeat to Pakistan in Wednesday's semi-final. The loss means Black Caps will return home without a trophy from a fifth straight white-ball World Cup, despite reaching at least the semi-finals in all of them. "The journey in this tournament has been a lot of good but it's just frustrating not put out a better performance today," he told reporters. Asked about again failing to get his hands on any silverware, Williamson reverted to his focus on performance. "And then we've got met by a side that's played a little bit better or about equal.

MELBOURNE, Nov 1 (Reuters) - Sri Lanka knocked Afghanistan out of the semi-final race at the T20 World Cup with a six-wicket victory in Brisbane on Tuesday, boosting their own chances of making the last four in the tournament. Sri Lanka now have four points from as many matches, while Afghanistan stay rooted at the bottom with two. Electing to bat, Afghanistan were subdued in the powerplay and were 68-1 at the halfway stage of their innings. Ireland stunned England in a rain-marred Super 12 contest on Wednesday and are joined by defending champions Australia as well as England on three points, two behind Group 1 leader New Zealand, from as many matches. "They've got some seriously talented players," Finch said of their opponents on the eve of the match in Brisbane. "We have seen how damaging Ireland can be if you give them a sniff in a game," the opener said. Australia have amassed a string of explosive batters in their lineup but Finch said the likes of Glenn Maxwell, Marcus Stoinis and Tim David could play the anchor's role as well. "Tim David has a lot more batsmanship and craft than people give him credit for," Finch said.
(CNN) England suffered a shock defeat against Ireland at the T20 World Cup as rain in Melbourne thwarted the team's run chase. Pursuing Ireland's total of 157, England had Moeen Ali and Liam Livingstone at the crease and needed 53 runs from 33 balls to win when rain arrived at the Melbourne Cricket Ground. At that point, the Duckworth-Lewis-Stern method, which calculates a team's target score when rain stops a match, intervened to hand Ireland a five-run victory. The result means England, one of the favorites to win the tournament, will likely have to defeat reigning champion Australia on Friday in order to reach the semifinals. Andrew Balbirnie led the scoring for Ireland with a superb 62 from 47 balls, while Lorcan Tucker added 34 as England's bowlers failed to gain an advantage in Wednesday's match.

"Obviously we're not too happy about the fact he's not in a great space for bowling at the moment. Conditions were difficult right from the start and only got worse, the former Zimbabwe captain said. "I understand the need to try and get these games on for the public and for TV," he said. "I understand the need to try and play in slightly inclement weather to try and get a result.
