From San Diego to Georgia I traveled over long stretches of empty road that connected small rural communities. Yet almost every per capita statistic — teen pregnancy, gun deaths, infant mortality, spousal abuse, drug use, alcoholism, poverty — shows an inherent, not extrinsic, problem in rural America. An appeals court judge denied Trump’s emergency request to stay, or pause, the deadline. A panel of judges has now taken up the motion to delay posting bond until Trump appeals the verdict.
