Speaking at a banking seminar, Italian Banking Association President Antonio Patuelli weighed in on the tensions brewing between euro zone banks and ECB supervisors. Patuelli said it should not come at a surprise if Italian banks bought fewer domestic government bonds following the ECB's decision. Touching on the issue of ECB representatives' presence at banks' board meetings, Patuelli said this could get them in trouble if they proved unable to stop what later emerged as misdeeds.

At ITA Airways, he will take the place of Alfredo Altavilla, who resigned earlier this month after a clash with several board members over strategy to complete the privatisation of the airline. The exclusivity period ended last month but talks over a potential sale agreement are continuing. Confirming a Reuters report on Tuesday, the Treasury said in a statement it would appoint Turicchi at an ITA Airways shareholders' meeting on Wednesday. Turicchi had recently been indicated by political sources as a potential candidate to replace Alessandro Rivera as director-general of the Treasury.

The Italian coalition official, who declined to be named, said Rome was ready to provide Ukraine with a variety of air-defence systems, including the medium-range Franco-Italian SAMP/T and Italian Aspide, as well as portable Stinger missiles. Italian Defence Minister Guido Crosetto spoke by phone on Monday with U.S. Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin and pledged to support Ukraine against Russia's invasion for "as long as necessary", a statement said. On Monday, Kyiv said it had received its first delivery of NASAMS air defence systems from the United States.

Atacantul lui Milan este alesul organizatorilor celebrului festival de la San Remo ca invitat permanent. Marele eveniment al muzicii italiene se va desfășura între 2 și 6 martie. Programul festivalului i-ar putea crea totuși probleme suedezului: pe 3 martie se dispută Milan - Udinese în Serie A.S-a aflat și cât va încasa Ibrahimovic pentru a prezenta la San Remo - este vorba de 50 de mii de euro pe seară. El va trebui să poarte exclusiv vestimentația oferită de un mare designer. Iar ca rol, toate zvonurile arată că Ibrahimovic va face glume chiar pe seama lui, mai ales că vor fi invitați imitatori de ai săi pe scenă.
