According to company registration website Qichacha, Changxin Xinqiao was founded in 2021 in Hefei city, in the eastern Anhui province. Its general manager is Zhao Lun, who is the general manager of ChangXin Memory Technologies, one of China's leading memory chip companies. Changxin Xinqiao and the Big Fund did not immediately respond to Reuters' requests for comment. The organization raised 138.7 billion yuan for its first fund, and 204 billion yuan for its second fund.

I’ve watched U.S. warplanes attack Afghanistan; barely escaped a direct strike from a Russian MiG in Georgia, and lived for weeks under relentless Israeli bombardment in Lebanon. Israel has so far killed more than 8,000 people, the Gaza Health Ministry said, more than 40 percent of them children. But having spent time under bombardment, and having reported in Gaza, I have no time for these explanations. If we are to believe the Israeli political and military leadership’s own words — and I think we should — the assault on Gaza was driven, first, by straightforward vengeance. We could find out with a cease-fire, but they say we can’t ask for a cease-fire.

Last year's U.S. Supreme Court decision rescinding a five-decade-old right to abortion has reshaped American abortion policy, shifting power to states. Japan’s Supreme Court ruled on Wednesday that requiring transgender people to undergo sterilization in order to legally change their gender identity is unconstitutional, a step forward for L.G.B.T.Q. rights in a nation that has been slow to recognize them. In practice, that means many transgender people will still be unable to make the legal change. AdvertisementAdvertisementBillionaires should have to pay a 2% global minimum tax imposed by governments, researchers at the EU Tax Observatory say. They listed the tax as a key proposal in their Global Tax Evasion Report and argued that it would raise close to $250 billion annually. Its researchers said that the tax would mimic the 15% global minimum tax introduced for multinational companies. Currently the world's billionaires collectively pay around $44 billion a year in individual income taxes and wealth taxes, the researchers wrote.
