But as with those close competitors for the title of “oldest profession,” the reality of prostitution isn’t worth fighting for. Though data is often incomplete, given the difficulties of tracking a black market, research from those who work with survivors indicates that only a tiny minority of people actively want to remain in prostitution. Those who enter the sex trade often do so because their choices are sorely circumscribed. The term “sex work” whitewashes the economic constraints, family ruptures and often sordid circumstances that drive many women to sell themselves. A small, often elite, minority of people who work happily in the sex trade shouldn’t dictate the terms for everyone else.

Some House Republicans are pushing yet again to revisit the SALT deduction. That State and Local Tax deduction — known as SALT — has proven to be a bipartisan scourge, with Republicans and Democrats alike from impacted areas rallying to restore the tax break to a more generous level. "I remain adamantly opposed to the SALT cap," Rep. Chris Smith (R-NJ), who spoke out and voted against the legislation that created the SALT cap in 2017, told Insider in a statement. "I promised Long Islanders I would fight tooth and nail to restore our SALT deduction. He added: "There is bipartisan support for restoring the SALT deduction which will put direct pressure on Republican leadership to listen to the millions of struggling middle-class families and take action to restore SALT."

July 21 (Reuters) - The state of New Jersey sued the Biden administration on Friday seeking to block New York City's congestion pricing plan. Last month, the plan cleared a major roadblock when the U.S. Department of Transportation's Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) said the city had adequately assessed how the congestion charge would help the environment. New York City, which has the most congested traffic of any U.S. city, would become the first major city in the U.S. to follow London, which implemented a similar charge in 2003. New York lawmakers approved the plan in 2019 to provide funding to improve mass transit by using tolls to manage traffic in central Manhattan. The toll would generate $1 billion to $1.5 billion a year and support $15 billion in debt financing for mass transit improvement.

A second metric the firm uses is the difference in weighted compete score, which measures the direction the market is trending in. It's based on a year-over-year change in the overall compete score. A good way to look at the data is by considering both the overall score and the changing score. Marr says investors should pay more attention to the difference in the compete score, and specifically, areas that are facing steep increases versus declines. Below is a list of June's year-over-year difference in weighted compete score listed from lowest to highest positive change and the overall weighted compete score.

CNN —The replacement for a crumbling underwater tunnel connecting New York City and New Jersey that carries up to 200,000 people daily just received the largest-ever federal transportation grant, according to Senate majority leader Chuck Schumer. In all, some 24 trains per hour and 200,000 people daily (at pre-pandemic levels) pass through the tunnel, according to Amtrak. Gardner said the rail line and others have applied for $10 billion in federal grants, including for the Gateway project. “A future of rail transportation for passengers really across the entire east coast, and our connections to the west.”The project has political complications. President Donald Trump opposed spending so much federal funding on the project – back when it was expected to cost only $13 billion – according to the then-Transportation Secretary, Elaine Chao.

The rise of political nepo babies

Second, if you are a nepo baby in your first term, you will continue to be counted as a nepo baby in each subsequent term. Thus, Pelosi has been counted as a nepo baby each year since she was first elected in 1987. It's possible that this trend is the result of the Democratic party electing more nepo baby incumbents like Pelosi. Thus, it's not surprising that the Democratic Party does not just have more incumbent nepo babies but also more first-time nepo babies. On top of that, we continue to see that independent of party the Senate elects more nepo babies than the House.

Bed Bath & Beyond and Buy Buy Baby signage is displayed outside of store in Los Angeles. A little-known baby retailer based in Piscataway, New Jersey, has tentatively won the auction for the intellectual property of Bed Bath & Beyond's crown jewel Buy Buy Baby, court records filed Thursday say. Another auction for all of Buy Buy Baby's assets, including its many stores, will be held July 7, the records say. If Bed Bath & Beyond receives a higher bid at the upcoming auction, it could lose the rights to Buy Buy Baby's intellectual property. Interest has centered around Buy Buy Baby, long considered the most valuable part of Bed Bath & Beyond's business.

"She knows what she's doing, she's not shy, she's posing uncomfortable hypotheticals - and she's not afraid to do those things even if it's causing discomfort." The government's precipitation expectation model from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, or NOAA, is called Atlas 14. "It leverages the best available historical precipitation data that was available the time that the study was performed." It is not the only state using Atlas 14 to inform its infrastructure projects. "I can't speak to how some of those engineering decisions are made," Salas said when asked if Atlas 14 should still be used.
