People on social media say, wrongly, that the leftist candidate in Brazil’s presidential election plans to close down churches if elected. The Supreme Court sided with the electoral court in a hearing Tuesday. The electoral court has said the hackers didn’t gain access to any vote-counting data. The Supreme Court and some of its justices have also been victims of the disinformation war, with one post threatening violence against the daughters of justices. Complaints filed by the electoral court with online platforms have gone up 1,671% compared to the 2020 local elections, the electoral tribunal said last week.
The move is now looking a bit aggressive, and it will probably look overbought after Wednesday on a short-term basis. The "average stock" has been smoked (average decline among S & P 500 members peak to trough has been 35%, for Nasdaq 50%). Here's the equal-weight S & P 500 versus Nasdaq 100 this year, a massive 13-percentage-point spread and the "typical stock" in a sturdier trend above mid-June lows. META has traded poorly both before and since the GOOGL results, a broken stock with lack of sponsorship and massive questions about strategic missteps coloring investor perception. Granted, the stock had started to base ahead of the latest upbeat results more than META's has so far.

But some very narrow minded and very nationalist types escalated hate against Rohingya on Facebook,” he said. Instead, Meta’s algorithms “proactively amplified and promoted content” on Facebook, which incited violent hatred against the Rohingya beginning as early as 2012. And they are asking Meta to pay reparations for its role in the violent repression of Rohingya Muslims in Myanmar, which the U.S. declared a genocide earlier this year. “These algorithms are really dangerous to our human rights. The Rohingya refugees are seeking unspecified reparations from the Menlo Park, California-based social media giant for its role in perpetuating genocide.
Jack Sweeney said Facebook shut down his page that tracks Elon Musk's jets. "Really @Facebook," Sweeney tweeted. The billionaire told Sweeney he was concerned for his safety and didn't "love the idea of being shot by a nutcase." Sweeney previously told Insider that he countered Musk's offer, asking for $50,000 instead, but Musk declined. Earlier this year, he told Insider he stopped tracking Mark Cuban's jets on Twitter after the billionaire investor reached out and offered him business advice in exchange.
Today, we're kicking things off with my colleague Eugene Kim's look at a (secret) new team at Amazon. Amazon CEO Andy Jassy is trying to fix the company's crumbling engineering culture. According to leaked documents, Amazon formed the "Amazon Software Builder Experience" group to "focus on improving the experience of software builders across Amazon." Some Amazon engineers have expressed that they're "overwhelmed" by mundane software upgrade work, manual testing and deployment, and hard-to-use developer tools. The Meta CEO announced on Instagram: "Happy to share that Max and August are getting a new baby sister next year!"
Amazon CEO Andy Jassy said the company isn't planning to force employees back to the office. He noted that most of Amazon's corporate workers are already on a hybrid scheme. Jassy noted that most Amazon corporate employees are working on a hybrid work schedule and that certain sections of the company, like its hardware and creative teams, are in the office more often, per CNBC. In contrast to Amazon's approach, other high-profile companies have required employees to report for work at their offices at least several days a week. Jassy had previously called off Amazon's company-wide plan to require corporate and tech workers to be in the office at least three days a week starting in January.
The sister of Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg was speaking at the Global Supertrends Conference 2022 on Wednesday. The Web3 is a hypothetical, future version of the internet based on blockchain technology — an "ideal utopia," said Zuckerberg. "In order to really unlock the potential [of Web3], we're going to need to figure out a system where there's interoperability. Going mainstreamHowever, according to Zuckerberg, that's easier said than done because no company running a metaverse right now wants to give up control or "share that ownership." She added that Web3 needs experts who have been involved in the global banking system and Web2 — the internet that we know today — to lend a "protective layer."
Meta is limiting employee conversations about abortion on its internal platforms. The policy at Meta removes public employee posts on the company's internal platform with keywords like "abortion" and "Roe v Wade." Meta allows employees to talk about the topic only in private forums with up to 20 people, the Times said. The tech behemoth isn't the first company to monitor and control employee conversation around political issues and face pushback for it. Hasnas said that a company shouldn't single out one issue as being off limits, and that all political issues require consistency.
There's no love lost between Elon Musk and Mark Zuckerberg. The CEOs have been feuding since 2016, when a SpaceX explosion destroyed a Facebook satellite. Since then, they've butted heads repeatedly and now they're threatening to face off in a cage match. For over six years, Elon Musk and Mark Zuckerberg have clashed over topics as varied as artificial intelligence and rockets. Even though both dabble in artificial intelligence and social media, and their companies have partnered in the past, it seems there's no love lost between Musk and Zuckerberg.
