According to Transparency International's 2022 Corruption Perceptions Index, Ukraine ranked slightly better than Russia but still well below the global average. Their focus also shows civil society is embracing its role as a government watchdog even as the war grinds on. Many journalists are also turning their attention to uncovering Russian war crimes and assets in Ukraine. PUBLIC PARTNERSHIPSuch reports play a key role in Ukraine's fledgling anti-corruption system, created after the 2014 Maidan revolution toppled pro-Russian president Viktor Yanukovych. The economy shrank by a third last year, the largest fall since Ukraine's independence from the Soviet Union in 1991. ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih, Ukraine's largest steel mill, said its production was currently at about 25% of pre-war levels amid electricity blackouts. Ukraine's central bank predicts GDP will grow by 0.3% this year, while the economy ministry forecasts 3.2% growth. The agreement saved Ukraine's agriculture, which accounted for about 12% of GDP and some 40% of overall exports before the war. The steel sector, a key pillar of the economy, is among the hardest hit.
Henrik Fisker stands with the Fisker Ocean electric vehicle after it was unveiled at the Manhattan Beach Pier ahead of the Los Angeles Auto Show and AutoMobilityLA on November 16, 2021 in Manhattan Beach, California. Electric vehicle startup Fisker said Monday that it spent less money in 2022 than expected, and that it remains on track to begin deliveries of its Ocean SUV this spring and to build more than 40,000 vehicles in 2023. "These results reinforce our expectation that, at the time of launch, the Fisker Ocean will have the longest range of any SUV/Crossover priced below $70,000," he said. Fisker expects to complete the testing needed for regulatory approval of the Ocean next month, and to ramp up production – and begin deliveries -- in the second quarter. Fisker spent a total of $702 million in 2022, a bit below its guidance range of $715 million to $790 million.
Feb 27 (Reuters) - Electric-vehicle startup Fisker Inc (FSR.N) on Monday flagged increased orders for its sports utility vehicle Ocean and maintained its production forecast for the year, sending its shares higher by 7% in trading before the bell. Fisker said reservations for the first model of Ocean rose to more than 65,000 as of Feb. 24, 2023, from 62,000 as of Oct. 31, 2022. In August, Fisker said it was exploring options to manufacture in the United States in 2024. Its net loss stood at 54 cents per share, compared with analysts' average estimate of 42 cents per share, according to IBES data from Refinitiv. Last year, its net loss was $138.4 million or 47 cents.
LONDON, Feb 24 (Reuters) - Russia's invasion of Ukraine has disrupted economies and markets around the world, from energy and food prices to European banks, emerging market stocks and the Russian currency. Below are five charts that show how Europe's biggest conflict since World War Two has shaped global financial markets in the last 12 months. But when Russian tanks rolled into Ukraine in late February, European natural gas prices rocketed by almost 400% in two weeks. Energy prices soared, bringing the threat of blackouts, recession and a worrying switch back to dirtier sources of fuel. Food price pressures are easing, but that does little to soften the blow for many developing nations, where food and energy prices make up a larger share of spending.

ZURICH, Feb 22 (Reuters) - EFG International's (EFGN.S) net profit fell 1.7% to 202.4 million Swiss francs ($218.50 million) last year, the Swiss private bank said on Wednesday, as it settled legal proceedings related to a client relationship with a Taiwanese insurance company. EFG said it had paid 40.6 million francs in legal costs and increased provisions to resolve the dispute, with all proceedings against the bank now ended. On an underlying basis, which removes these costs as well as other items like gains from its legacy life insurance business, EFG's net profit increased to 248.7 million francs from 167.8 million francs a year earlier. The bank said along with the market correction, the decline in assets the Swiss bank manages reflects the disposal of the Spanish private bank A&G. In 2021 EFG reported 8.8 billion francs.

The correspondence is available on handelsregister.de, a public German companies registry.
Chick-fil-A is making its cauliflower sandwich the same way as its original chicken sandwich. Chick-fil-A will test its first plant-based entree: a cauliflower sandwich. The new sandwich closely resembles its famous chicken sandwich, but uses breaded and pressure-cooked cauliflower in place of meat. Chick-fil-A said it's been working on a plant-based sandwich for nearly four years, right around when chains like Dunkin' and Restaurant Brands International's Burger King were putting Beyond Meat and Impossible Foods substitutes on their menus. Buffalo Wild Wings and countless bars serve fried cauliflower smothered in buffalo sauce as an alternative to chicken wings.

There's a "value gap" in European markets, and that's creating a unique opportunity for investors to buy up top-notch financial and industrial names at a bargain, according to David Herro, chief investment officer of international equities at Harris Associates. European markets dropped sharply last year as war concerns mounted in Ukraine, energy prices surged, and the Chinese economy struggled. But even as share prices dropped, earnings continued improving, opening up what Herro calls a value gap. When it comes to international markets, Herro's got the credentials to support this type of declaration. "Just about every one of the major European financials is over capitalized, and distributing that money back to shareholders positions," Herro told CNBC.

Israeli security forces deploy at the site of a reported attack in a settler neighborhood of Israeli-annexed east Jerusalem, on January 27, 2023. At least seven people were shot dead in a synagogue in east Jerusalem on Friday, Israeli police said, as violence escalated following an a raid in the occupied West Bank city of Jenin. The attack, among the deadliest for Israelis in years, occurred in east Jerusalem, which was annexed by Israel in the 1967 Arab-Israeli war, and came after the deadly Israeli raid in the West Bank. The violence comes amid tensions over the Palestinians' long campaign for an independent state in the West Bank, the Gaza Strip and east Jerusalem, which were captured by Israel in 1967. Responding to the Israeli raid Thursday, the State Department said the U.S. was "deeply concerned by the escalating cycle of violence in the West Bank."
A unit of Genesis Global says a trader known as "Bitcoin Jesus" has yet to settle all his crypto options trades. Genesis filed for bankruptcy this month after being impacted by the bankruptcies of FTX and Three Arrows. That's one of the names included in Genesis' bankruptcy filing. So-called Bitcoin Jesus was an early advocate for the world's most popular token, but has also been a polarizing figure within the crypto and blockchain communities. Meanwhile, crypto lender Genesis had been facing issues long before the recent collapse of FTX, as Insider previously reported.
The Financial Services Commission said in a statement there was a huge discrepancy between the regulations currently in place and the global standards and that "(it) will boldly improve regulations that have hindered global investors from investing in our market." The regulator said it would scrap a three-decade-old rule that requires foreigners to register with authorities prior to trading South Korean stocks. The push comes as South Korea pursues the promotion of its stock market to Morgan Stanley Capital International's developed market index. It is currently categorised as an emerging market by the global index provider. The regulator plans to complete the required legislation revision process in the first half of this year to implement such changes within 2023.

Law firm Sullivan & Cromwell has been criticized for its involvement in FTX's bankruptcy having worked with the crypto exchange before. Andrew Dietderich, of Sullivan & Cromwell, told the court that line of credit was used to fund political donations and lavish purchases.
