related investing news Here's what analysts are saying about Apple's new Vision Pro headset The promise of Apple's new mixed-reality headset isn't really about the headset I got to take one for a test drive. The Vision Pro isn't large enough to fit glasses if you wear them. Even though most of the focus with Apple Vision is on the visuals, I was equally impressed by the audio. The Vision Pro has a pair of speakers that sit near your temples and provide a surround sound effect. But as someone who has tried just about every mainstream headset to date so far, I can tell you that Vision Pro feels like a $3,500 machine.

In “The Sportswriter,” the first novel in this series, Frank started out as a sensitive young literary man who had published a book of stories. Though the Bascombe novels are set mostly in New Jersey’s wealthier suburbs, they are, oddly, road novels. Springsteen went from “Darkness on the Edge of Town” to “Letter to You.” Holy moly. Ford went from “Independence Day” and “The Lay of the Land” to “Let Me Be Frank With You” and “Be Mine.” Good Lord. The Bascombe novels are road novels, as well, because they are set during holidays, when families are in flux.

Tom Cruise is on the warpath about "Mission: Impossible 7" getting bumped out of Imax theaters. "MI7" opens on July 12 but only has a short window before "Oppenheimer" arrives to Imax exclusivity. Tom Cruise's upcoming "Mission: Impossible" film is getting boxed out of Imax theaters by Christopher Nolan's "Oppenheimer" — and the star is "pretty pissed" about it, Matt Belloni reported for Puck. "Oppenheimer" will drop a (permit me) nuclear bomb on the market, snapping up ALL Imax screens for three weeks. A committed proponent of Imax, Nolan shot "Oppenheimer" entirely on Imax cameras.

As the space contracts, cinema operators are investing in the basics, improving sounds, picture quality and seating as well as in bolstering its food and beverage offerings, events and alternative programming. While cinema operators are pleased that studio production has increased, they are no longer taking audiences for granted. Over the last few years, movie theater operators have been removing traditional digital projectors and installing laser units, citing cost savings over time and a better picture quality for moviegoers. Many theater operators told CNBC they are planning similar upgrades to sound systems, saying they have partnered with companies like Dolby to bring quality speakers into their auditoriums. So far in 2023, that premium ticket average is higher — $17.33 each — because so many moviegoers saw Disney's "Avatar: The Way of Water" in premium formats and 3D.
