"Ok, so — Elon, this idea about having an efficiency commission, I actually like the idea," Dimon said in an interview with CNBC-TV18, which aired on Tuesday. This story is available exclusively to Business Insider subscribers. AdvertisementDuring the CNBC interview, Dimon said that at the moment, he will not endorse Trump or his opponent, Vice President Kamala Harris, for the presidency. Musk, representatives of Trump and JPMorgan Chase didn't immediately respond to a request for comment from Business Insider, sent outside business hours.

Three EPA whistleblowers told ProPublica on Thursday that their complaints were the subject of the reports (which redact employee names). After endorsing Trump, Kennedy wrote in a Wall Street Journal op-ed that the U.S. could “revisit pesticide and other chemical-use standards” if Trump wins. “The EPA was sort of paralyzed under the Trump administration,” she said. It’s not yet clear what Kennedy’s role might be in a potential Trump administration, or which decisions he’d help to make as part of the transition team. Even with Kennedy’s ties to Trump, Gartner said she would expect the EPA under a second Trump administration to act similarly to the first one.

Yet while Black swing-state voters are largely lined up behind Harris, there are some important differences among subsets of the Black vote. Meanwhile, Black swing-state voters with college degrees support Harris over Trump by 73 points, while Black voters who aren’t college graduates support Harris over Trump by 68 points. Just over a quarter (26%) of men under 50 without college degrees said they’ll vote for Trump, compared with 67% who said they’ll vote for Harris. The Black voters polled most closely associated Harris with policies on abortions rights and reproductive health care (28%) and economic policies (26%). “And if they aren’t learning what Black voters are thinking, they’ll continue to be driven” by reporting and polling that doesn’t delve as deeply into Black opinion.

Despite these differences, Morgan Stanley expects tax rates to increase no matter who takes office. And a divided Congress, which Morgan Stanley predicts is very likely in November, will only further reduce the likelihood of dramatic change. Typically, the stock market is more influenced by the business cycle than tax policy or political party, according to Morgan Stanley.

Trump won the presidency in 2016 by stunning Democrat Hillary Clinton to win all three states by a combined margin of about 80,000 votes. But, as in other states, Democrats have been concerned about the risk of depressed turnout and some gains for Trump among Black voters in Philadelphia. Eight years later, the two states split again, when Roosevelt comfortably won Pennsylvania and Michigan narrowly went to Republican Wendell Willkie. This trio of states has arguably become the most consistent tipping point in American politics. In the nine elections since 1920 when they split their vote, the candidate who carried two of these three states won seven times.

Trump has already called for mass deportations from the town, saying last week: "We're going to start with Springfield and Aurora." "Once a country is designated, each individual covered by the designation must apply separately for TPS status," she said, noting that existing TPS holders must also renew their paperwork with each redesignation. The negotiations over the Special Measures Agreement, known as the SMA, strained the US-South Korea alliance during the Trump administration. Former President Donald Trump demanded Seoul pay up to 400% more for the presence of the 28,500 US troops in the country during negotiations over the current agreement. Under the current agreement, South Korea pays about $1 billion annually, representing an increase of about 13.9% over previous SMAs. Earlier this year, Trump said that he did not think the South Korea is paying enough based on the last agreement. One complication is that a deal will have to be approved by South Korea’s national assembly — which is dominated by the opposition party to South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol.

The presidential candidate has pledged to unleash universal tariffs on all US trade if elected. The firm outlined which five sectors are the most exposed to losses if Trump wins and implements tariffs. To be sure, US firms have some way of navigating higher costs associated with tariffs, Barclays said. Other economists have loudly criticized Trump's tariff idea as fuel for inflation, given that prices will rise amid a pullback in foreign products. Bitcoin will reach $125,000 by the year's end if Trump wins the election, Standard Chartered said. Bitcoin would reach $75,000 under Kamala Harris, as she is more open to crypto than president Biden, SC said. Under the self-branded "crypto president," bitcoin could reach $125,000 by the year's end, analyst Geoff Kendrick wrote on Thursday. If Harris wins the presidency, bitcoin will reach $75,000 by the end of the year, Kendrick estimates. Even if Trump wins, Kendrick tempered his prior outlook that bitcoin can reach $150,000 by the year's end.

Despite the increasingly partisan sentiment in the cryptocurrency industry, bitcoin will thrive over the long term regardless of who wins the U.S. presidential election in November. It helps that bitcoin became more institutionalized than ever this year with the introduction of U.S. bitcoin exchange traded funds. "If Trump wins in November, will there be an immediate pump? A cargo ship is sailing towards the docking of a foreign trade container terminal in Qingdao Port, Shandong province, in Qingdao, China, on June 7, 2024. Judah Levine, head of research for Freightos, says if history is any guide, additional tariffs will fuel ocean freight rates. Any increase in freight demand will fuel rates, said Peter Sand, chief shipping analyst at ocean freight rate intelligence platform Xeneta. "When ocean container shipping markets increase, that cost gets passed down the line and ultimately it is the end-consumer who pays the price," Sand added. Xeneta data shows the last time Trump ramped up tariffs on Chinese imports during the trade war in 2018, the ocean container shipping markets spiked more than 70%.

That’s the fine line Garland has to walk. And, unfortunately, a man whom Garland tried his best to ignore until it was too late. In short, for Donald Trump there was, and always is, a separate rule. If Trump wins in November and orders Justice to drop the prosecutions against him, that will be a lasting tarnish of Garland’s legacy.

Here’s a look at what could happen to inflation, jobs and the deficit if Trump or Harris win in November. That, among other things, would keep the top tax rate individuals pay at 37% compared to 39.6% before it went into effect. Meanwhile, the tax proposals Harris has put forth so far mostly involve imposing higher taxes, which would have a positive impact on the deficit. For instance, she’s endorsed raising the top individual income tax rate to 44.6% and the top long-term capital gains tax rate to 28% versus the current 20%. Taken together, the Penn Wharton Budget model estimates Harris’ proposals could increase the deficit by an additional $1.2 trillion by 2034.

Despite a 7% rebound on Monday, Trump Media has lost nearlythree-quarters (72%) of its value since peaking at $66.22 on March 27. The wipeout reinforces concerns raised by experts who have repeatedly warned that Trump Media’s multi-billion-dollar price tag defies logic. The company is losing money, generating very little revenue and Truth Social remains a relatively tiny player in social media. In August, Trump Media launched Truth+, a TV streaming platform on iOS, Android and the Web versions of Truth Social. It’s possible Trump Media’s stock market fortunes could turn, especially with the former president’s high-profile debate Tuesday with Harris.

Former Democratic Rep. Tulsi Gabbard, who has endorsed Republican former President Donald Trump's campaign, is advising the GOP nominee to focus on Vice President Kamala Harris' policy pivots in their upcoming debate. Still, Gabbard is uniquely suited to help Trump understand what it would be like to debate Harris, given her firsthand experience during the 2020 Democratic primary contest. "What I pointed out in that debate stage in the 2020 campaign was her hypocrisy," Gabbard said. At the time, criminal justice reform was a very popular issue among Democratic primary voters.
