Michael Bloomberg donated $50 million to a nonprofit supporting Harris' campaign, per the NYT. AdvertisementMichael Bloomberg, the former New York City mayor and presidential candidate, recently donated around $50 million to a nonprofit organization supporting Vice President Kamala Harris' campaign, according to the New York Times. Though Bloomberg typically makes public campaign donations, he intended for this contribution to remain secret, the Times reported. Harris herself hopped on a call with the billionaire, and he donated the money soon after, according to the Times. Trump has amassed his own army of billionaire donors, including Elon Musk and Timothy Mellon.

Overall, just 30% of registered voters think Trump will accept the results of the election and concede if he loses, while 73% say that Vice President Kamala Harris would accept an election loss. But that rises to 20% among registered voters who support Trump, compared with only 3% who feel that way among Harris supporters. The CNN Poll was conducted by SSRS online and by telephone October 20-23, 2024, among 1,704 registered voters nationwide drawn from a probability-based panel. Likely voters include all registered voters in the poll weighted for their predicted likelihood of voting in this year’s election. Results for the full sample of registered voters have a margin of sampling error of plus or minus 3.2 percentage points; it is 3.1 for likely voters, and larger for subgroups.

Democrats had warned the new rules around certification could allow local election officials to delay or altogether decline to certify the election results as they searched for purported fraud or irregularities. Key GOP state officials, including Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger, had also opposed the new rules. Republican state officials have launched an emergency appeal in Virginia, while Trump has attempted to play up the ruling for political gain. A Republican lawsuit led to a settlement with Detroit election officials that affirmed that there would be at least one GOP poll watcher in each precinct. But in Wisconsin, a judge rejected a lawsuit there to force election officials to hire more GOP poll workers in Racine.

For years, Republican activists have huddled in video meetings to talk about remaking democracy and plan for the election. They successfully lobbied for new state election laws and procedures, diving deep into the intricacies of election regulations. Earlier this year, Ms. Mitchell said she was called by God to shift her attention to the possibility that noncitizens were voting. They were involved in recent attempts to make it easier for State Election Board members to hold up certification while they conduct inquiries into the vote. Ms. Mitchell has talked about a federal elections overhaul should Republicans win the White House and Congress.

It’s a feeling permeating the heavily Jewish neighborhood — and one that has affected how the swing-state community has processed the 2024 election. CNN —Former President Donald Trump and Vice President Kamala Harris have laid out a broad array of ideas aimed at making life more affordable and strengthening the economy, which rank at the top of voters’ concerns. Both Trump and Harris have rolled out pricey provisions without specifying how they would cover the cost. Though his campaign hasn’t released details on the proposal, Trump has indicated that he would eliminate both federal income taxes and payroll taxes, which fund Social Security and Medicare. Around half of beneficiaries – mainly those with higher incomes – pay federal income tax on their Social Security payments. Harris’ plan would also accelerate the speed of Medicare’s drug price negotiations so that the costs of more medications come down faster.

Trump has waded into deep blue territory to boost his candidacy among Black and Latino voters. He has sought to use this issue to cut into Harris' support among the very groups she'll need to win the presidency. This includes Black voters, who for decades have overwhelmingly backed Democratic politicians, and Latino voters, who have become less Democratic as a whole in recent years. A recent GenForward survey showed that 26% of young Black men backed Trump, compared to 58% who supported Harris. Unlike traditional American public housing, which is usually reserved for low-income families, social housing is intended to be mixed-income. Sen. JD Vance on Saturday defended former president Donald Trump's comments calling Democratic leaders "the enemy from within," saying that inflation, slowing military recruitment and the migrant crisis are a "way bigger threat than any foreign threat." These problems, the Ohio Republican told NBC News' "Meet the Press," are "caused by broken leadership." Specifically, Vance mentioned former Speaker Nancy Pelosi as a catalyst for American decline. "Under Nancy Pelosi’s long life in public leadership, the United States has gone from the preeminent industrial power of the world to second, next to China," Vance told moderator Kristen Welker.
