Fails, who would have seen her daughter turn 20 this Friday, still cannot understand why Crain’s emergency was not treated like an emergency. Passed nearly four decades ago, it requires emergency rooms to stabilize patients in medical crises. Eight years earlier, the Texas Medical Board found that he had failed to diagnose appendicitis in one patient and syphilis in another. Last year, he sent a letter threatening to prosecute a doctor who had received court approval to provide an emergency abortion for a Dallas woman.

CNN —Angry residents booed and threw eggs at Spain’s King Felipe and Queen Letizia as they visited the Valencia region, where more than 200 people have died in devastating floods. After they posed for a photo, the crowd began hurling insults at the king, Mazon and Sanchez. The Royal Family’s social media channel released video in the aftermath of the protest, showing the king and queen embracing distraught residents. As polls show a dead heat between former President Donald Trump and Vice President Kamala Harris in the final days of the race, news outlets are preparing an anxious nation for the likelihood that election night will stretch into an election week. Most major media outlets around the country rely on a handful of organizations to crunch the numbers and make race calls. “We’re also going to be really transparent about why we may not be able to call a race,” Pace said. In 2020, Joe Biden was not declared the winner of the presidential election until Saturday, several days after election night. While Biden went on to carry the state by roughly 10,000 votes, the network came under assault from Trump and his allies, who blasted the right-wing network’s election night projection.

Harris cannot afford much slippage with these groups, which are full of low-propensity voters who need encouragement to turn out. Here are five keys to a Trump victoryBut will that curiosity materialize into actual votes for Trump at the ballot box? They could give Harris a crucial boost because these voters tend to reliably turn out in election after election. ABUJA, Nigeria CNN —Twenty-nine children could be facing the death penalty in Nigeria after they were arraigned Friday for participating in a protest against the country’s record cost-of-living crisis. The death sentence was introduced in the 1970s in Nigeria, but there have been no executions in the country since 2016. “So taking minors before a federal high court is wrong, ab initio, except if the government is able to prove that the boys are all above 19 years,” Balogun said. “A country that has a duty to educate its children will decide to punish those children. Overseas voters “can sway an election, especially in the swing states,” said James Lockett, chair of Democrats Abroad Hong Kong. During the 2022 midterm elections, overseas voters also made the difference in close races in Connecticut, New Hampshire and North Carolina, the DNC said. Even as Republicans raise concerns about overseas voters, their presidential nominee, former President Donald Trump, appears to be seeking their support. “You can’t treat overseas Americans as second-class citizens, and I don’t care if they are Republicans, Democrats or independents.”

The streets were full of people walking to procure basic supplies with their cars ruined and the streets undrivable because of the mud and debris. Spain’s Interior Ministry said in a statement that regional administrations are responsible for sending alerts to warn the population of possible flooding and other natural disasters. Mazón is also under fire for his announcement at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday that the storm front would “lose strength” by 6:00 p.m. The size and violence of the extreme weather event was shocking and extremely difficult for any administration to prepare for and predict. But Valencia, on Spain’s Mediterranean coast, has a history of autumn storms that produce floods, albeit at a smaller magnitude than this monster of a storm.

The life of the marigold, known as the cempasúchil in Mexico, reflects our own: the plant sprouts, grows, flowers and dies. The flowers’ yellow and orange glow is ubiquitous across Mexico every year in the first few days of November, during Day of the Dead, as families place cempasúchil flowers on altars and at cemeteries to create a path to guide their loved ones back home. My grandmother died of Covid in October 2020, just as the cempasúchil began to appear in the markets of Mexico City. A few days later, my cousin Gabriel, who lived with my grandmother, went to buy the materials for her first altar. Did they have the chance to celebrate their loved ones?
