I took two 500-mile mini road trips this year in two different electric SUVs. Here's what I learned during my adventures in the Toyota BZ4X and Genesis GV60. At their worst, EV road trips can be frustratingly long and stressful ordeals. Charging can take a frustratingly long time in the wrong carThe 2023 Toyota bZ4X AWD Limited charging. I learned charging slowly while you're parked can make EV road trips more seamless.

Here is what you need to know about narcissists and how to gray rock your way out of conflict with them. It depends on what you mean by narcissist, Malkin said. In conflict, or even just in conversation, it is important to protect your sense of self and independence from narcissists, Ashway said. If the person is likely to just be a jerk, gray rocking may be very helpful. Important to remember, though, is that gray rocking is not about changing the behavior of the narcissist, Malkin said.

Partnering with a young, popular trans woman could help a brand like Bud Light reach a more youthful demographic. But because Bud Light managed to alienate everyone, it hasn’t gotten the benefit of a buycott. In the week ending on July 8, Bud Light sales, by dollar, fell nearly 24% year-over-year, according to data provided by Williams. Others are more breezy, showing people enjoying Bud Light despite the inconveniences of summer (sunburn, thunderstorm). The Q2 GDP number of +0.8% q/q just pipped forecasts, but y/y undershot at 6.3% suggesting revisions somewhere to the past. The market reaction was disgruntled with Chinese shares down and the yuan easing. The data underlined the need for much more serious fiscal spending but Beijing seems in no hurry to satiate market wishes this time. The central bank left one-year rates unchanged on Monday, and analysts seem resigned to wait for a Politburo meeting later this month for fresh steps. Goldman Sachs says passive funds that track NDX will rebalance their portfolios but the 2011 special rebalance experience suggests the stock-level impact will be limited.

Intricate embroidery and theatrical agglomerations of fabric are by nature excessive and inefficient, serving no particular purpose beyond simply being a beautiful, special thing. Taking cues from preindustrial clothes and approaches to making them, she prioritizes “slowness and craft” — an ethos that she also sees as a recuperation of the “silent work by women” makers throughout history, whose contributions have been dismissed as mere decoration. Part of her practice has been unlearning the principles of austere refinement imparted during her studies as a graphic designer. “Every time there’s a minimalist movement there will be a maximalist one in response,” she says. “We can only show restraint for so long.”

CNN —In China – the land of hot noodles, steaming rice and warm soups – a new and unlikely food trend has swept across the country’s social media platforms in recent weeks. “I feel it’s important to recognize that perception is an evolving concept,” says British Chinese chef Andrew Wong, the third-generation owner of London’s two-Michelin-star Chinese restaurant, A. Fall Out Boy's new cover of the 1989 Billy Joel classic covers a lot of the bases the original touch. "Cambridge Analytica" (2018): The British consulting firm had been around for years, but bombshell reporting by The New York Times and The Guardian in 2018 sparked a scandal. Obama went on to defeat Republican presidential nominee John McCain en route to becoming the nation's first Black president. "Trump gets impeached twice" (2021): President Donald Trump became the first president to be impeached twice in the wake of the January 6, 2021 Capitol riot. Video later showed that Rice, who was 12 years old, was killed within two seconds of officers arriving, The New York Times reported.

Decades of data shows that young Black men are disproportionately more likely to die in encounters with police than Whites. But young Black girls face some of the same vulnerabilities – as well as some particular ones. My Black daughters shouldn’t have to feel like they’re responsible for everyone else around them. Black women are often expected to raise their voices and pick up cell phones to protect family, friends and even strangers. The dangers of shopping while Black are well documented; Black women are accustomed to being racially profiled by retail workers who follow them in stores.

I was happy to avoid the massive cruise ships carrying thousands of passengers disembarking at the same time and being frog-marched to the same attractions. The entertainment on board is very pared back and simpleYou won't get Broadway-style entertainment on a small ship. I was tired of cruise food, but the gourmet small-ship options changed my mindThe food on board was a close-second favorite. It's worth the price if you can entertain yourselfMy takeaway is, if you don't need 100 activities on board, small-ship cruising is for you. Small ships don't entertain you all day long — you find and make your entertainment.

Rebalance your portfolio Tech's remarkable bounce in 2023 could result in a significant portfolio tilt toward that sector — and an overconcentration that could hurt in the event there's a downturn. That means it's time to trim down a few of those oversized positions and make sure your asset allocation is properly reflecting your goals. Check in with cash Cash is another asset that requires your attention, especially in an era when investors have a host of options of where keep those funds. Cash you don't need for many years can go right back into your stock portfolio so you can keep ahead of inflation, Pearce said. "Make sure you have an appropriate amount of cash, and make sure you're not sitting on an enormous pile of cash that's doing nothing," he added.

Spider-Man/Miles Morales (voice of Shameik Moore) Photo: SONY PICTURES ENTERTAINMENTIt’s easy to disdain and deplore (and I do disdain and deplore) the two letters that ate Hollywood: “I.P.” But intellectual property is like bread: It’s often stale and bland, but it can be fresh and delightful. The latter attributes were evident in every sparkling and witty minute of 2018’s animated triumph “Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse,” which posited a multiverse in which all sorts of different Spider-People existed simultaneously in their own worlds rendered in distinct styles of animation. The script reworked 1960s characters and storylines with heart and comic brilliance, plus one of the craftiest and twistiest plotlines of any comic-book blockbuster.

To figure out what GPT-4 has read, they quizzed it on its knowledge of various books, as if it were a high-school English student. One way to answer the question is to look for information that could have come from only one place. Genre — sci-fi, mystery, romance, horror — is, broadly speaking, more interesting, partially because these books have plots where things actually happen. Bamman's GPT-4 list is a Borgesian library of episodic connections, cliffhangers, third-act complications, and characters taking arms against seas of troubles (and whales). See what a bot makes of Gene Wolfe's "The Book of the New Sun," maybe, or Sheri Tepper's "Grass."
Many job seekers have started using ChatGPT and similar AI tools to write résumés and cover letters. 39% of surveyed HR professionals said using AI in applications is a dealbreaker. Some recruiters said that using AI to write applications could be a "marketable skill." Plovie added that it's hard to say if companies will seek job candidates who have "expertise and experience" with AI tools. Are you an employer who doesn't want job candidates using AI tools to help with their résumés or cover letters?
[1/5] Members of Vesta Orchestra and Opera Foundation perform during a concert they organized at the Alliance Francaise de Lagos / Mike Adenuga Centre in Lagos, Nigeria May 20, 2023. It was the latest show staged by the Vesta Orchestra, founded in 2017 by violinist Rosalyn Aninyei, which has enlivened the classical music scene in Lagos by performing new works by contemporary Nigerian and African composers. The music had clear connections with the classical repertoire rooted in Europe, but the choice of the Yoruba language and the story anchored the performance in Nigeria. "I am so happy that there are events like this in Nigeria," said Kayode Oshundun, who was attending his first performance by Vesta. "My flat was actually behind the opera house and it was always a dream of mine to come home ... and discover our own classical music," she said.
I asked ChatGPT, OpenAI's chatbot, to punch up my résumé and the results were less than spectacular. While ChatGPT can offer some inspiration for your résumé, you still need to put in the work. But even with all that guidance, résumé writing remains a tedious task. I assumed it could offer helpful assistance for résumé writing, too. Further down, ChatGPT recommended I use words including "influential" and "prestigious" to describe my former employers.
