Kristina Royce, a divorce attorney, says marriage should be treated like a business transaction. I've been a matrimonial lawyer for 23 years, representing high-net-worth individuals, including celebrities and entrepreneurs, who are navigating marriage or divorce. However, marriage is a business transaction with the potential for huge financial consequences, so it needs to be treated as such. The West WingOne of Trump’s most important picks will be his White House chief of staff. Karoline Leavitt, who was Trump’s campaign spokeswoman, is being considered as White House press secretary – a job that typically is the most public-facing position in the White House. National security postsTrump has suggested his national security team would be tasked with reassessing the United States’ posture toward Ukraine and Russia, China, Iran, and the simmering conflict in the Middle East. The debate over a renewed Trump’s “America First” agenda is expected to pit Republican national security hawks against the party’s isolationist wing. Secretary of state and national security adviser will be among the most hard-fought positions to stand at the forefront of those shifts.

Credit markets face challenges, but opportunities exist in corporate bonds and cheap optionality. But when times are tight, companies deleverage until their debt is less than their cash flow. The yields in corporate bonds aren't much higher than in government bonds, meaning less compensation for more risk. SEOUL, South Korea — North Korea on Tuesday fired multiple short-range ballistic missiles toward its eastern sea, the South Korean military said, as the country continued its weapons demonstrations hours before the U.S. presidential election. South Korea’s Joint Chiefs of Staff said the missiles flew about 250 miles but did not specify how many were fired. The launches came days after North Korean leader Kim Jong Un supervised a flight test of the country’s newest intercontinental ballistic missile designed to reach the U.S. mainland. South Korea’s military intelligence agency said last week that North Korea has also most likely completed preparations for its seventh nuclear test. Experts say North Korea has yet to acquire some critical technologies to build a functioning ICBM, such as ensuring that the warhead survives the harsh conditions of atmospheric re-entry.

Investors in Europe who are concerned about former President Donald Trump's potential return to the White House have several options at their disposal, according to Barclays strategists. European markets are already trading with a risk premium ahead of a potential Trump win, and the investment bank believes the full impact may not be reflected in current valuations. "The possibility to bypass Congress increases the risk of tariff implementation in the event of a Trump win," said Barclays strategists led by Emmanuel Cau in a note to clients on Oct. 23. "Compared to a status quo scenario under a Harris win, a Trump win may have broader and more discriminant implications for markets." Under such a scenario, Barclays strategists warned that investors would have nowhere to hide anywhere.

Traditional oil and gas names are also likely to benefit under a second Trump presidency. With Election Day underway, income investors should soon find out how their portfolio may — or may not — be affected by the outcome. Harris has said she wants to boost the corporate tax rate to 28% and increase the top rate for long-term capital gains to 28% for those making more than $1 million. That means that those who are buying AMT bonds but not paying AMT are getting free income, he said. Lastly, a higher corporate tax rate could also spur banks and insurance companies to return to the muni market. The companies owned a lot of municipal bonds when the tax rate was 35% and many bought more corporate bonds when the tax rate fell to 21%, Brandon said.

Potential winners and losersIn the months ahead, some ETFs or funds could outperform depending on the election outlook. Exchange-traded funds have steadily gained popularity among investors, with ETF assets crossing the $10 trillion mark in September — a trend experts say is largely due to advantages like lower tax bills and fees relative to mutual funds. Exchange-traded funds are generally known for passive strategies, but there has also been a surge in actively managed ETFs, with the goal of beating the performance of broader markets. watch nowHowever, most financial advisors caution against making hasty changes to your investment portfolio based on the outcome of this election.
