If the investment is finalised at that figure, the company would become one of the largest foreign investors in Vietnam. Growatt, which produces battery systems and energy storage inverters for residential and commercial use, did not reply to requests for comment. It has yet to pass legislation, however, that would permit the use of energy storage facilities to strengthen its power network. Hithium, which currently does not have a presence in Vietnam, specialises in manufacturing stationary energy storage products, including cells and larger containers that help manage the intermittent supply of energy from solar or wind farms. The global stationary energy storage market is estimated to jump in value to roughly $224 billion by the end of the decade from just over $31 billion in 2021, according to Precedence Research.

June 2 (Reuters) - General Motors Co (GM.N) and South Korea's POSCO Future M said on Friday they will invest more to boost production at their chemical battery materials facility in Canada, taking their estimated total investment in the plant to over $1 billion. The companies said the new investment includes an additional CAM and a precursor facility for local on-site processing of critical minerals. The development comes a few days after the Canada's federal government and the Quebec province each provided about C$150 million ($112 million) for the facility. The companies last year established Ultium CAM joint venture, which is majority owned by POSCO Future M, and had initially invested about $327 million, according to media reports. Their battery facility in Becancour, Quebec, will produce cathode active material (CAM) for electric vehicle (EV) batteries.

Japan's Asahi Group Holdings has plans to dive back into the China market as it looks to revive investments in the world's largest beer market. The company divested from China years ago due to the lack of "premiumized products" and "very low" prices at that time, Katsuki said. In 2017, Asahi announced it would sell its nearly 20% stake in China's Tsingtao Brewery to Fosun Group and its subsidiaries. "But with the entry of the international brands and also craft beer, the premium segment in China is now really taking off and growing substantially." "Asahi Super Dry has the largest sales already from the China market now and it's growing double digits every year, so we want to continue to really invest into this premium market," he added.

Phil Rosen here, still poking around OpenAI's new ChatGPT iPhone app. The rise of ChatGPT and subsequent AI boom could solidify the recent strength in stocks as a new bull market, according to market veteran Ed Yardeni. In a recent note, the strategist said equities' strong start to the year isn't just a bear market rally, but that it indeed marks a new bull regime. But some investors worry about increased risk as the debt ceiling debate intensifies. Money market funds — which are different than money market deposit accounts — typically invest in lower-risk, short-term debt, such as Treasury bills, and may make sense for short-term investing goals. As a result, some of the biggest money market funds are paying nearly 5% or more as of May 9, according to Crane data. Investors worry funds may 'break the buck'As default concerns rise, investors fear money market funds may "break the buck," which happens when a fund's so-called net asset value, or total assets minus liabilities, falls below $1. Money market funds may provide an 'opportunity'Despite the looming debt ceiling, advisors are still recommending money market funds for cash.
