Kennedy’s public poll numbers are dropping, from around 9% or 10% in national surveys before Biden dropped out, to about half that level now. Members of the main U.S. transportation regulator grilled Boeing executives Wednesday over the company’s workplace safety culture and allegations of retaliation linked to two employees who were sidelined over a January mishap involving a Boeing 737 Max 9 in which a door plug detached mid-flight. A preliminary report found that four bolts intended to secure the door plug had been missing when the accident occurred. The workers were placed in a different building where Boeing builds wings, which the NTSB said in a report workers refer to as “Boeing prison,” Homendy said at Tuesday’s hearing. Boeing is working on plug sensor changes that will not allow the door plug to fully close if there are any issues until it is firmly secured. Boeing committed under oath to work with the NTSB without interference on a safety culture survey of Boeing employees.

But the necessary paperwork for that temporary door plug removal was apparently never created. But under questioning from the NTSB Lund admitted that it’s not clear who and when that door plug was put in place. “Are you 100% sure there will never be an unauthorized removal (of a door plug)?” Homendy asked. Asked if he could promise there will not be another door plug improperly installed, Silva answer, “I cannot make a promise or guarantee of that.

New York CNN —Millions of sports fans and concertgoers are being duped by a deceptive pricing scheme at StubHub that hides the true cost of tickets until the very last moment, according to a lawsuit filed Wednesday by Washington, DC Attorney General Brian Schwalb. The lawsuit accuses StubHub of deploying pricing tactics that “trick” consumers into overpaying for tickets and are designed to boost profits. “StubHub uses a classic bait-and-switch scheme,” the lawsuit said, describing what’s known as “drip pricing” where only part of the product’s price is advertised initially. “We strongly support federal and state solutions that enhance existing laws to empower consumers, such as requiring all-in pricing uniformly across platforms.”According to the lawsuit, StubHub did use an “all-in pricing” model from 2014 to 2015 where the advertised prices included the mandatory fees. However, the company abandoned that more transparent model after testing found that customers were more likely to ultimately buy tickets when those fees are only shown at the end, the lawsuit said.

Reuters —A Tesla Model S car was in “Full Self-Driving” mode when it hit and killed a 28-year-old motorcyclist in the Seattle area in April, police said, making it at least the second fatal accident involving the technology on which Tesla CEO Elon Musk is pinning his hopes. Tesla says its “Full Self-Driving (Supervised)” software requires active driver supervision and does not make vehicles autonomous. Previously, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) said there was one fatal accident involving a Tesla vehicle using FSD software between August 2022 and August 2023. This year, Musk shelved Tesla’s all-new affordable cars and increased his bets on self-driving vehicles, saying he will be shocked if Tesla cannot achieve full self-driving capability next year. In December 2023, Tesla was forced to recall nearly all its vehicles on U.S. roads to add safeguards to the software.
