May 2 (Reuters) - Manchester City have the mental strength to endure their packed schedule in the final stretch of the season as they target a possible treble of trophies, manager Pep Guardiola said on Tuesday. Everything is here, the mental strength, the best period we can live and we are not tired. I'm pretty sure he'll score more in the Premier League before the end of the season," Guardiola added. It is a surprise for us, but maybe not for him to do what he's done in this difficult league. Arguably no player has made such an impact in his first season in the English Premier League. No Premier League player has ever scored as many. Only Everton’s Dixie Dean, who scored 63 goals in the 1927/28 season, has scored more goals in English football during a single top-flight campaign, according to the Premier League. The penalty was his 34th goal in the league, equaling Alan Shearer (1994-95) and Andy Cole (1993-94) for the most goals scored in a Premier League season. City still has hopes of completing the ‘treble’ as Pep Guardiola’s side remains in contention to win the league, the FA Cup and the Champions League.
draft is a pinnacle for many players, most of whom have dreamed for years of hearing their names called by Commissioner Roger Goodell in front of millions of TV viewers. But in 2020, as players celebrated reaching the professional ranks, the broadcast zoomed in on their personal tragedies. Viewers learned, for example, that the sister of receiver Jerry Jeudy, whom the Denver Broncos selected 15th overall, had died while he was in high school. The package introducing Michael Pittman Jr., a receiver taken 34th by the Indianapolis Colts, revealed his stutter. Trevon Diggs, a cornerback picked 51st by the Dallas Cowboys, was noted to have lost his father to heart failure in 2008.
The most recent week saw purchases of NYMEX and ICE WTI (+12 million), Brent (+8 million), U.S. gasoline (+2 million) and European gas oil (+1 million) but sales of U.S. diesel (-3 million). But in products, the long-short ratio has increased to only 2.69:1 (40th percentile) from 2.39:1 (38th percentile) on March 21. And in middle distillates, such as gas oil and ultra-low sulphur diesel, the ratio has actually fallen slightly to 1.70:1 (33rd percentile) from 1.78:1 (35th percentile). Even on the crude side, however, the end of the short-covering process has sapped oil prices of some of their upward short-term momentum. U.S. NATURAL GASInvestors are becoming cautiously more bullish on U.S. gas prices, anticipating prices have already dropped so low the balance of risks is tilted strongly towards the upside.
Purchases over the three most recent weeks totalled 225 million barrels, among the largest increases over any three-week period in the last decade. As a result, fund managers held a combined position of 515 million barrels (34th percentile for all weeks since 2013) on April 11, up from just 289 million barrels (6th percentile) on March 21. But the pace of buying slackened noticeably last week as most of the short positions that existed in late March had been closed out. By April 11, total shorts had been reduced to just 125 million barrels (7th percentile) as bearish investors were squeezed out of the market. Fund short positions in NYMEX WTI were reduced to 24 million barrels, the lowest for almost six months, and down from 127 million barrels three weeks earlier.

LIVERPOOL, England, April 9 (Reuters) - Arsenal's grip on the Premier League title race was loosened as Liverpool produced a storming comeback to snatch a 2-2 draw in super-charged clash at a raucous Anfield on Sunday. The north Londoners were heading for a first league win at Liverpool since 2012, an eighth successive league win and a massive three points in their quest to win the league as they powered into a 2-0 lead. Arsenal have 73 points from 30 games, while Liverpool are eighth with 44 points. The game was under control but after that we concede a really sloppy goal and the game shifted momentum," Arsenal manager Arteta said. Liverpool took charge after the break and were awarded a penalty in the 58th minute after Rob Holding fouled Jota.

[1/3] Jack Ma, billionaire founder of Alibaba Group, arrives at the "Tech for Good" Summit in Paris, France May 15, 2019. China lost 229 billionaires from the Hurun Global Rich List 2023, accounting more than half of the 445 people who disappeared from the list, which ranks moguls with a minimum net worth of $1 billion, the Hurun Report said on Thursday. The world's second biggest economy also added 69 new billionaires to the list during the period. In China, Jack Ma, founder of China's e-commerce giant Alibaba Group Holding , dropped to 52nd place from 34th a year earlier, due largely to China's regulatory crackdown on its tech sector. "The only thing I am not certain of is whether there would be a global financial crisis," he said.

Inditex is planning to open at least 10 new Zara stores across the US by 2025. At least a dozen other Zara locations will be revamped or enlarged, the retailer said. "This is a market in which for every $100 of fashion sold, we take less than $0.50 of that," García Maceiras said. Foot traffic is up at Zara stores around the world, and Inditex reported a 23% jump in store sales in 2022 across its portfolio of brands, which includes Zara, Bershka, and Massimo Dutti. Inditex plans to invest 1.6 billion euros, about $1.7 billion, in expanding its stores and warehouses worldwide, including a new Zara store on Paris' Champs Elysées, and at least 10 new locations across the US.
Twala holds South African citizenship, has lived in the UK since 2004 and is father to a British son. The UK Home Office has not responded to a request for comment Reuters made on Saturday. 'BAD DREAM'Twala said his son, Mason, was in shock when he heard that his father could not board the plane. After receiving a family court order for the part-time custody of his son, Twala said he believed he could travel outside the country. "It just feels like I'm in a bad, bad dream," Twala said, adding that he's had "dark" thoughts throughout his time stranded in Turkey.
In the past twelve months, the oil market has absorbed the impact of Russia's invasion of Ukraine and the sanctions imposed in response by the United States, the European Union and their allies in Asia. As a result, benchmark oil prices have retreated by nearly 40% from their post-invasion high on March 8, 2022, after adjusting them for core inflation. Like all equilibria in the oil market, this one is likely to prove temporary and fragile - lasting until one or more of the risks around recession, inflation and China's post-pandemic rebound materialise or fade away. Conversely, if the global economy slides into a full-blown recession, inventories will rise and prices and spreads are likely to soften further. For the moment, however, the oil market has returned to balance less than twelve months after one of the largest shocks since the World War Two.

Retailers across the US are fighting an increase in store theft. In New York City, one non-profit retail trade group has started using dogs to combat the problem. The 34th Street Partnership launched the program in partnership with Stapleton Security Services this month at a local CVS. In an emailed comment to Insider, the 34th Street Partnership Ward said the firm has "initiated the canine patrol as a pilot project and will evaluate its efficacy as it continues. Nationwide, retail theft has become a $95 billion problem for the industry, according to the National Retail Federation's most recent Retail Security Survey.

[1/5] Members of Canada's National Women's soccer team wear protest t-shirts before their match against the U.S. at the SheBelieves Cup women's soccer tournament in Orlando, Florida, U.S., February 16, 2023. The team's protest is the latest escalation in their dispute with Canada Soccer over pay equity issues. "Tonight, our players will be wearing purple as a symbol of protest," said the Canadian Players Association in a statement. The Canadians wore the purple t-shirts during warmups at Exploria Stadium in Orlando, Florida before changing into their traditional red kit but wearing purple tape on their wrists. The Olympic champions had boycotted training last Saturday while demanding immediate changes but reversed course later that day as Canada Soccer called their strike unlawful and threatened legal action.

Investors should take a closer look at KKR & Co. on the strength of its alternative assets business, according to Michael Nicolas, portfolio manager at Oakmark Funds. "If you kind of step back a little bit, alternatives have been taking share of invested assets for quite some time, and KKR has been taking share within alternatives," he said Wednesday on CNBC's " Squawk on the Street ." The portfolio manager at the Oakmark Equity And Income Investor fund (OAKBX) said he prefers KKR over some of its competitors, such as Blackstone and Apollo Global Management. "We think the company is extremely well managed, and has a really attractive long-term earnings growth outlook. Additionally, Nicolas said he still likes Fiserv and Willis Towers Watson , both stocks he recommended on CNBC in October .
But my favorite — the one that convinced me true love actually is real — is my parents' story. My parents, Mark and Christine Smith, both 60, have been together for 44 years. Their marriage has stood the test of time — and while no two marriages are the same, my parents' relationship has set my bar for love extremely high. To celebrate Valentine's Day, I asked them how, exactly, they make their relationship work. For example: Both of my parents grew up in households where the partners divided chores evenly, and they wanted the same out of their relationships.
LONDON, Jan 31 (Reuters) - China’s manufacturing activity has started to increase as the coronavirus epidemic wanes, after the country abandoned its suppression strategy that severely disrupted the economy with a series of city lockdowns. The NBS manufacturing index appears low, barely above the theoretical 50-point threshold dividing expanding activity from a contraction, but that may understate the increase in activity. But China’s manufacturing index has been generally lower and less variable than the comparable indices published for the United States and the euro zone by the Institute for Supply Management and S&P Global respectively. China's index has a standard deviation of 1.59 points compared with 3.99 points for the United States and 4.88 for the euro zone. If that timeline holds, manufacturing and freight transportation activity is likely to increase over the next two months.
One night, I said to Marianne, "What if we made a Netflix for the movie theater industry? I tried to push my subscription idea, but it fell flat. I continued to tread water on my subscription idea, but things were slow going. One Saturday, a dear friend of ours named Peter called and asked how the movie subscription idea was coming. They're interested in buying both the Urbanworld Film Festival and the movie subscription company for one million dollars.
Every year since 1990, the media advocacy nonprofit group has honored films, television shows, musicians, journalists and other media figures for fair, accurate and inclusive representations of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer people. Of the 10 wide-release film nominees, for example, six featured prominent lesbian, bisexual or other queer women characters, including “Tár,” “Bodies Bodies Bodies” and “Scream,” the group noted in its release. Netflix scored the most nominations of any network, outlet or platform, with a total of 21, followed by ABC with 12 and HBO Max with 10. Will You Have a White Christmas This Year?

If you are dreaming of a white Christmas, your dreams may just come true this year. While a white Christmas might help the treetops glisten, the storm is likely to bring hazardous travel conditions as well. Last year, NOAA updated the average probabilities of a white Christmas across the United States. The song “White Christmas” was written during one of those long, snowless-Christmas spells. By the time he wrote the song at the end of the 1930s, New York City had not seen a white Christmas since 1930, according to weather service data and the official definition of a white Christmas.
