Oil and natural gas prices traveled divergent paths this week, resulting in a mixed picture for the Club stocks Coterra Energy (CTRA) and Pioneer Natural Resources (PXD). In Thursday's session alone, natural gas prices jumped nearly 7%, as traders reacted to U.S. government data that showed a smaller-than-expected storage build. For the week, through Thursday's settle, natural gas has climbed 8.1%, building on last week's 11% advance. Natural gas on Friday morning jumped another 1.5%. Coterra's revenues are roughly a 50-50 split between oil and natural gas.

In a letter filed on Thursday in Brooklyn federal court, U.S. prosecutors asked a judge to order Ng's surrender to the U.S. Marshals Service by Friday so he could be turned over to Malaysian law enforcement, who would transport him to their country. The case stemmed from about $6.5 billion in bonds that Goldman helped 1MDB sell in 2012 and 2013. Goldman settled with authorities in October 2020, agreeing to pay $2.9 billion and having its Malaysian unit plead guilty to a corruption charge. A double-digit gain in the price of rice drove annual inflation to accelerate by 6.1% last month, its fastest pace in four months, according to data from the Philippine Statistics Authority released on Thursday. The country's economic planning agency on Thursday said it would recommend extending the lowered tariff rates on rice until December 2024, a day after Philippine President Ferdinand Marcos Jr lifted the cap on rice prices. Rice inflation quickened by 17.9% in September, the fastest in over 14 years, the statistics authority said, helping fuel the 10.0% food inflation rate for the month. September's faster-than-expected inflation could convince the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) to resume hiking rates after it left its benchmark rate (PHCBIR=ECI) steady at its last two meetings. Last month's inflation print brought year-to-date average inflation to 6.6%.

"I remember joking about majoring in puzzles as a kid, never imagining that such a thing was possible until my mom discovered the individualized major program," Shortz said. Between 2019 and 2021, there was a 3% increase in the number of students graduating with individualized studies degrees. With majors like Chaos, Human Computer Interaction, and Architecture and Food Theory, students aren't just crafting these degrees for fun. In 2020, RIT renamed its individualized major the New Economy major and highlighted the need for students to "adapt to evolving career fields." Adopting a rather divergent approach to the same goal, New York University's Gallatin School of Individualized Studies frames its approach as honing the "management of knowledge."

New York CNN —When the Miami Marlins bested the Pittsburgh Pirates on Saturday, Kim Ng became the first female general manager to lead a Major League Baseball team into the playoffs. And while the Marlins’ postseason was short lived — ending Wednesday night after a loss to the Philadelphia Phillies — it marked a major milestone for Ng. Her hiring followed 30 years of experience in the MLB, including with the New York Yankees and the Los Angeles Dodgers, two of the winningest teams in the league. When she joined the Marlins, the team was facing serious struggles, including the loss of big-name players, low attendance and a limited budget. “Kim was the first person I called,” Jeter told the “Today” show in 2021 of Ng’s hiring.

By joining forces, the states hope to counter the pain rippling across the nascent U.S. offshore wind industry, which is expected to play a key part in decarbonizing the power sector and revitalizing domestic manufacturing. The three states will seek multi-state offshore wind proposals for selection in 2024 for up to 6,000 megawatts (MW) of power. “One year ago, Avangrid was the first offshore wind developer in the United States to make public the unprecedented economic headwinds facing the industry," Avangrid said in a release. We're be buying 200 shares of Coterra Energy (CTRA) at roughly $26.79 each. Following Monday's trade, Jim Cramer's Charitable Trust will own 1,750 shares of CTRA, increasing its weighting in the portfolio to 1.7% from 1.5%. We also do not believe shares are adequately reflecting the rise in natural gas prices over the past week and a half. Remember, Coterra's business is about 50-50 nat gas and oil . It's worth noting that CTRA stock was moving lower with nat gas and oil prices on Monday.

HONG KONG/BEIJING, Sept 28 (Reuters) - China Evergrande Group's (3333.HK) founder is being investigated over suspected "illegal crimes", the embattled developer said on Thursday, as creditors become increasingly concerned about the group's prospects amid an uncertain debt revamp plan and liquidation risk. NEW YORK (AP) — A dozen years ago, Barkley L. Hendricks, the pioneering portrait artist known for vivid, stylish paintings of Black men and women, stood outside the Frick Collection in Manhattan, known for its works by European Old Masters. Still, curators say, he'd likely have never imagined that in 2023, he’d be the first artist of color to have a solo show at the 88-year-old Frick. What is more unusual is that a museum focusing on the 14th through 19th centuries would devote a show to a contemporary portraitist like Hendricks. His sunglasses reflect the buildings outside Hendricks' studio, and even contain a tiny reflection of the artist himself. “Slick” features the artist in a white suit against a white background, wearing a cap of African design.

The data comes hours before the Bank of Japan (BOJ) concludes its two-day policy meeting that began on Thursday. While government subsidies pushed down utility bills, prices rose for a range of food and daily necessities in a sign that steady inflation was taking hold in the world's third-largest economy. "The persistent stickiness of inflation means the BOJ will need to revise up their inflation forecasts at its October meeting," said Gabriel Ng, an economist at Capital Economics. After hitting a peak of 4.2% in January, core inflation continued to slow as the effects of last year's sharp rises in fuel and raw material prices dissipate. But some analysts say the slowdown has not been as large as expected due to steady rises in food prices, and could keep inflation above the BOJ's target longer than initially thought.

HONG KONG, Sept 19 (Reuters) - Chinese developers Sunac (1918.HK) and Country Garden (2007.HK) brought some relief to the crisis-hit property sector by forging debt deals with creditors, but the outlook remained clouded by uncertainty about a recovery in home sales. Shares in Sunac China Holdings surged as much as 14% on Tuesday after creditors approved its $9 billion offshore debt restructuring plan, the first green light of such a debt overhaul by a major Chinese developer. The developments come as Beijing steps up efforts to revive the property sector, which accounts for roughly a quarter of the world's second-largest economy, with a raft of support measures unveiled over the last few weeks. While Sunac is among a string of Chinese developers that have defaulted on their offshore debt obligations since an unprecedented liquidity crisis hit the property sector in 2021, Country Garden has not missed any offshore payments yet. The Sikh religion was founded in Punjab in the late 15th century and currently has about 25 million followers worldwide. Sikh separatists demand that their homeland Khalistan, meaning "the land of the pure", be created out of Punjab. The Khalistan movement is considered a security threat by the Indian government. In April this year, India arrested a self-styled preacher and Sikh separatist Amritpal Singh for allegedly reviving calls for Khalistan, sparking fears of new violence in Punjab.
