I visited McDonald's and Chick-fil-A to compare their drive-thru experiences. Both chains are trying to speed up their drive-thrus with order-ahead options on their apps. McDonald's is using AI voice recognition to take orders, while Chick-fil-A is humanizing its customer service with friendly fast-food workers. McDonald's has been adding AI-powered voice bots to its drive-thru lanes, while Chick-fil-A has been opening some drive-thru only locations, as the chains look to improve convenience and speed of service. I recently tested drive-thrus at Chick-fil-A and McDonald's in Overland, Kansas to see how they compared.

CNN —A vast collection of art, furniture, silver, ceramics, and jewelry long held in the private collection of the Rothschild banking dynasty sold for more than $62.6 million over several auctions at Christie’s New York. The sales, which concluded on Tuesday, marked the first dedicated auction in North America of works from the French branch of the long-time banking family. Coincidentally, the cameo last came to auction at Christie’s in 1899, when it sold for £3,750 (about £395,000 or $496,000, in today’s money), shortly before it is believed to have entered the Rothschild collection. We don’t get a bulk of this type of material coming up for sale anymore,” Rendell said. As for why the family chose to sell the collection now, Rendell believes it may have been a “rationalization” and a “generational shift” in attitude.

They now make up to $3,000 per month from dumpster diving, and post their dives on TikTok. AdvertisementAdvertisementWe make between $2,000 and $3,000 a month selling our dumpster dive trash treasures. But it's still rare that we see somebody else dumpster diving at the spots we go to in Buffalo. When some people hear the term "dumpster diving," they sometimes picture a rat-infested dumpster covered in food, or that we're digging through household trash. We view our dumpster diving efforts, particularly selling scrap metal to scrap yards, as "carbon credits" that offset the carbon emissions from our next plane flights.

Bob Iger is trying to reshape Disney as a leaner company in his second act as CEO. When Bob Iger came back to Disney in November 2022, the company and the town celebrated the return of a successful and statesmanlike CEO for the world's largest entertainment brand. Two years under Iger's predecessor Bob Chapek left the company reorganized — in ways many company insiders didn't like — and executives, teams, and creative partners demoralized. Iger told CNBC in July that Disney's TV and cable businesses, including ABC and cable networks like FX, "may not be core" to the company. If Iger succeeds in acquiring all of Hulu, some analysts believe it would help Disney with streaming content, marketing, and ad revenue.

It follows a tumultuous spring for regional banks in which Silicon Valley Bank and two other lenders collapsed, forcing regulators to backstop deposits to stave off a broader panic. The proposal, which is subject to industry feedback, would see banks raise their long-term debt issuance by roughly 25%, or $70 billion, according to the FDIC. The agency said banks would have three years from the rule's adoption to meet the new standard. 'COMPELLING CASE'Each bank's debt requirement will be based on their risk-weighted assets, total assets, or total leverage, depending on which number is highest. In a speech previewing the proposals this month, Gruenberg said recent bank failures made "a compelling case" for regulators to impose tougher rules on regional firms.

The new requirement would bring large regional banks more in line with the largest global banks, which already have their own debt requirement. The proposal follows a tumultuous spring for regional banks, which saw three collapse, forcing regulators to backstop deposits to stave off a broader panic. The proposal would mean banks have to raise their long-term debt issuance by roughly 25%, or $70 billion, according to the FDIC. “These banks will have to go into the market issuing capital to meet the capital proposal and then issuing long-term debt to meet the long-term debt proposal," said Matthew Bisanz, a partner at Mayer Brown. The proposed rules were approved by the FDIC at a meeting Tuesday, giving the industry the opportunity to critique the approach.
