I would argue that, as goes Nvidia, so goes the stock market. As far as the options market is concerned, it's a pretty big coin. We are short shorter-dated options and long longer-dated options, seeking to find a way to sell high options premiums. In our case, the trade looks something like this: You can see, this isn't a cheap trade. BEFORE MAKING ANY FINANCIAL DECISIONS, YOU SHOULD STRONGLY CONSIDER SEEKING ADVICE FROM YOUR OWN FINANCIAL OR INVESTMENT ADVISOR.

In my time here, I have had to let two staff members go for behavior issues that were well documented. However, last week I had to lay off one of our full-time managers because of some unexpected shortfalls in revenue. I listened and acknowledged their feelings but was also surprised they didn’t understand that we had to preserve resources for everyone’s benefit. What can I do or not do to help build back trust in our team? — AnonymousYou are running an organization that is, mostly, doing well, but now you’re dealing with one of the many challenges of leadership.

For example, the tech sector’s valuations are generally lower than they were then, though still elevated. One is that the fundamentals of the tech sector are detached from its price action. While the sector’s earnings have performed better than the rest of the market on average, earnings expectations have been rising faster than actual subsequent earnings performance. Many parallels between the dot-com bubble and today’s market have been called to light in recent weeks. Only time will tell if tech stocks are in a bubble that's due to burst.

If you think chocolate prices this Valentine's Day were more expensive than usual, it's not you. Year to date, futures contracts are up nearly 27%, with cocoa prices rising in six of the past seven weeks. Here's a breakdown of what's driving cocoa prices higher and how it impacts the investment case around two major chocolate stocks. Doshi thinks cocoa prices could sell off about 20%, taking them to around $4,500 to $4,800 per ton. In an interview with CNBC last week, he underscored the rising cocoa price outlook as the key driver for his lower rating.

Ye, the rapper, producer and provocateur formerly known as Kanye West, has what will likely be the No. 1 album on next week’s Billboard chart, with “Vultures 1.” But on Thursday, the LP disappeared from Apple Music, one of the world’s top streaming platforms. The reason was unclear, and Apple gave no explanation. But the removal came a few hours after an independent distribution outlet complained that its system had been used to release the music in violation of its service terms. It also remained unclear whether — and how soon — Ye’s album might return to Apple, perhaps through another distributor.

Selling covered calls is a popular options trading strategy, especially among investors looking to generate additional income from their stock holdings. Like any investment strategy, selling covered calls comes with its own set of risks and benefits. The benefits Income generation: The primary benefit of selling covered calls is the ability to generate income on your stock holdings. Candidates for selling covered calls Stocks with moderate growth expectations: Stocks that are expected to grow steadily but not explosively are good candidates. I prefer to sell covered calls only in companies that are investment grade (S & P rating of BBB- or better), and of course, for the most part, avoiding selling covered calls through earnings.

The cup-and-handle (also known as a cup-with-handle) pattern occurs when you have a rounded basing pattern after a rally phase. Then, in December 2023, both stocks retested their July peak, which formed the cup of this pattern. If this level would fail to hold, then we'll have one more Magnificent 7 stock in a confirmed bearish phase. What concerns me most about these patterns popping up is not just that it suggests caution for these two technology stocks, which I believe it does. BEFORE MAKING ANY FINANCIAL DECISIONS, YOU SHOULD STRONGLY CONSIDER SEEKING ADVICE FROM YOUR OWN FINANCIAL OR INVESTMENT ADVISOR.

Luckily for the bride who reached out for help on Facebook, I love everything about weddings. And even though I didn't know the bride and groom, I still teared up during the speeches and first dances. I decided that any time I could make it to one of these weddings, I wouldI've gone to multiple weddings where I didn't know the couple. I never know (and don't ask) if the bride has told her family and friends that they invited people they've never met. Plus, I'll never say no to celebrating love, dancing the night away, and having a great night out.

These are the big deflationary factors"A lot of factors have come together to push goods prices down," said Mark Zandi, chief economist at Moody's Analytics. In addition to normalizing supply-demand dynamics, a historically strong U.S. dollar relative to other global currencies has also helped rein in goods prices, Zandi said. Falling energy prices have also put downward pressure on goods prices, due to lower transportation and energy-intensive manufacturing costs, economists said. Lower energy prices also put downward pressure on the transportation of food to store shelves. Consumers get more for roughly the same amount of money, which shows up as a price decline in the CPI data.

Asia-Pacific markets were set to track Wall Street losses after U.S. January inflation came in hotter than expected, with the consumer price index climbing 3.1% on a 12-month basis and 0.3% for the month. Economists polled by Dow Jones expected the CPI to have increased by 0.2% month over month in January and 2.9% on an annual basis. Core prices, which exclude volatile food and energy components, rose 0.4% month over month and 3.9% from a year ago. Core CPI was expected to have increased 0.3% in January and 3.7% from a year earlier, respectively. Japan's Nikkei 225 was also set to retreat from 34-year highs, with the futures contract in Chicago at 37,715 and its counterpart in Osaka at 37,670 against the index's last close of 37,963.97.

In a note on Tuesday, Smead shared the secrets to his success via four guiding principles for outperforming the market. What is worse, losing $30 per share or the sin of omission by missing the next $120 gain per share?" "Our optimism for companies goes up as the price goes down when it fits our eight criteria for stock selection," Smead said. 7 stocks Smead is betting on nowIn the note, Smead listed seven companies he owns that fit these criteria: oil firms Occidental Petroleum (OXY) and ConocoPhillips (COP); homebuilders D.R. We believe that 100% of the people who pick stocks for a living think they will be above average," Smead said.

I'm going to outline our approach to handling a possible pullback from all-time highs following the CPI that calls the 2024 Fed rate cuts into question. I'm using the S & P 500, Nasdaq-100 and an option hedge I may implement personally, and for my research and wealth management clients. Following a horrible bear market from 2021-2022 we spent most of 2023 rallying and here we are at new all-time highs. The S & P 500 weekly chart shows a basic 5-wave Elliott trend that consists of 3 separate market advances labeled as 1,3, and 5. The Nasdaq 100 just broke out to new all-time highs immediately following the 2nd worst correction since in 2000.

Here is a bearish contrarian trade using options on an over-extended tech stock. MDB is clearly in a bull run, so although I am considering a bearish trade here, I also need to be aware of the price levels which may act as support for the stock. If the stock does go into a pullback, I have shown 3 important levels where the stock is most likely to bounce back. So my long strike would be above the current price and the short strike would be below the current price. If MDB trades at or below my short strike by the expiration date, this trade can yield a 100% ROI on the amount risked.

The idea that foreign countries are freeloading off the United States plays well with his base, but Trump either doesn’t understand how NATO works or chooses not to. Meanwhile, in 2014, all NATO countries agreed to spend at least 2% of their GDP on defense by this year. Every US president since Barack Obama has pressed NATO countries to reach that expenditure level, but at the time of the agreement, only three NATO countries — the US, United Kingdom and Greece — were doing so. In 2017, NATO European countries and Canada spent around $270 billion on their defense, while the United States spent around $626 billion. No matter how wrong-headed it might be, according to his close advisers Trump seems quite serious about getting out of NATO.
