The state’s police spokesman Wasiu Abiodun told CNN in a statement that operatives arrested 11 armed “hoodlums” who set fire to a government building after looting it. Activist and lawyer Deji Adeyanju told CNN Thursday that there were counter-demonstrations by pro-government protesters who arrived in buses accompanied by a security vehicle. “In the northern part of Nigeria, the largest part of our country … the primary cause of hunger is insecurity. He added that Nigerians were also pained watching their leaders live in luxury while they struggled to make ends meet. Analysts told CNN at the time it was “hypocrisy” for the government to spend on luxuries while impoverished citizens suffer hardship.

Sometimes, what separates successful people from everyone else isn't what they say — it's what they don't say. Other sayings, like "keep me in the loop" or "just checking in," can unintentionally come across as passive-aggressive, Slack executive Jaime DeLanghe told CNBC Make It in 2022. In particular, the best employees typically steer clear from these three phrases and sayings, according to CEOs, psychologists and linguistics experts:'It is what it is'There's one phrase bosses and colleagues don't want to hear when they're facing a problem at work: "It is what it is." Using it, however, can appear highly passive to other people and tarnish their trust in you, McWhorter said. That means there's one sentence that can frustrate such CEOs: This is how we've always done it.

"This confirms that technology alone, even for one of the most advanced air defense systems in the world, is not enough to provide effective protection," Borsari said. "Firstly, the advanced Houthi drone was launched for the first time, following an atypical flight path that likely caught the Israelis off guard," Khoueiry told BI. "This means integrating low-tier air defense capabilities at scale, combining different types of effectors with an eye on cost-effectiveness," Borsari said.

In the wake of the rate hike cycle, the average credit card rate rose from 16.34% in March 2022 to more than 20% today — nearing an all-time high. A recent report from the Philadelphia Federal Reserve showed credit card delinquencies at an all-time high, according to data going back to 2012. The best move for those with credit card debt is to take matters into their own hands, advised Matt Schulz, chief credit analyst at LendingTree. Home loan rates have already started to fall, largely due to the prospect of a Fed-induced economic slowdown. Student loansFederal student loan rates are also fixed, so most borrowers aren't immediately affected by the Fed's moves.

TikTok-owner ByteDance's office in Singapore was hit by mass food poisoning on Tuesday, affecting 60 people, according to local authorities. In a joint statement sent to CNBC, the Singapore Food Agency and Ministry of Health said they were investigating suspected gastroenteritis cases at the China-based tech giant's office. According to TikTok's website, Singapore is one of its headquarters and ByteDance CEO Shou Zi Chew is a third-generation Singaporean citizen. The U.S. government passed a bill in April that seeks to force the app's Chinese owner to sell it or face a ban. A decade later, it's clear that Nadella followed his own counsel as he seeks to establish Microsoft as a dominant force in AI. So, by 2016, Microsoft ditched its mobile business and sold the Nokia phone line to follow Nadella's new vision for the company. This cemented Nadella's vision to build up its open-source software offering, solidifying Nadella's vision to boost Microsoft's open-source software offerings. CFO Amy Hood said on Tuesday that Microsoft's AI bets will be monetized "over 15 years and beyond."

While Michigan, Washington, Minnesota, Texas and California already had laws regulating deepfakes, Minnesota updated their law this year to require a candidate to forfeit their office or nomination if they violate the state’s deepfake laws, among other provisions. In states such as New York, New Mexico and Alabama, victims can seek a court order to stop the content. Katie Hobbs signed his proposal into law in May, along with another AI bill that requires disclosures in campaign ads. Big Tech has already taken some steps to moderate deepfake content. TikTok and Meta (the parent company of Instagram, Threads and Facebook) announced plans in recent months to label AI content, while YouTube requires creators to disclose when videos are AI-created.

As vice president, Harris supported a bipartisan border bill that would have ramped up enforcement at the US-Mexico border.
