ORLANDO, Florida, June 30 (Reuters) - Britain has an inflation problem, but imagine how much worse it would be were it not for the strong pound? But of all the factors pushing up UK inflation, including some that are unique to Britain's economy, labor market and cost of doing business as a consequence of Brexit, a weak exchange rate is not one of them. Indeed, sterling's value on a real effective exchange rate (REER) basis is the highest it has been since the Brexit vote. "UK inflation would indeed be even higher if sterling had not appreciated," Novy said. All else being equal, and taking into account the notorious 'long and variable' lag between interest rate hikes and cooling price pressures, UK inflation could come down pretty quickly next year.

FRANKFURT, June 30 (Reuters) - Some Deutsche Bank (DBKGn.DE) customers will not have access to all services this weekend as the bank completes the merger of its IT platforms with Postbank customers, a project that will save hundreds of millions of euros in the years to come. In the fourth and final wave of the integration process this weekend, Deutsche Bank will transfer 4 million contracts of 2 million Postbank customers to a common IT system, a Deutsche Bank spokesperson said. It will mean that customers will not have all access to all services over the weekend, which the bank has communicated on Twitter and elsewhere. Deutsche Bank is currently in the process of cutting costs and reducing headcount, and the Postbank technology integration, dubbed internally as project "Unity", will eventually bring savings of 300 million euros ($325.29 million) a year by 2025, the bank has said. After completion, Deutsche will have 19 million customers' contracts from Postbank on a single platform, a milestone for CEO Sewing as he continues to turn around the bank after years of losses and scandals.

MUMBAI, June 27 (Reuters) - Goswami Infratech, a Shapoorji Pallonji group entity, closed India's largest debt issue from a low-rated company on Tuesday, signalling growing interest in high-yielding debt from local and global private credit funds, bankers and fund managers said. Goswami Infratech accepted bids worth 143 billion rupees ($1.74 billion), including from Edelweiss Special Opportunities Fund, Davidson Kempner, Ares Capital Management, Varde Partners and Cerberus Capital Management, the bankers said. "We are seeing money coming in from global asset managers, international development financial institutions and large pension funds in Indian private credit funds," said Vineet Sukumar, founder of Vivriti Asset Management, which also manages a private credit fund. Court filings show how Jeffrey Epstein exerted power in the US Virgin Islands, two of which he owned. A financier worth hundreds of millions of dollars, Epstein owned two islands in the US Virgin Islands (there are roughly 50 islands overall). He had donated generously to Democratic politicians from the US Virgin Islands for years. With the assistance of the US Virgin Islands' first lady, Epstein navigated the territory's political waters unscathed. The court records show that, at least in the US Virgin Islands, he exerted influence with little friction.

June 26 (Reuters) - European shares edged lower on Monday, as a sharp decline in financial stocks more than offset gains in the energy sector on concerns about political instability in top oil producer Russia. The pan-European STOXX 600 index (.STOXX) was down 0.3% by 0717 GMT, after posting its biggest weekly percentage loss in three months at the end of a central bank policy-packed week on Friday. The energy sector (.SXEP), meanwhile, gained 0.2% as oil prices climbed after a revolt by Russian mercenaries over the weekend stoked concerns about a potential hit to oil supply from Russia. The banking index (.SX7P) was the biggest drag on the STOXX index, down 1%, with shares of Deutsche Bank (DBKGn.DE) falling 2.4%. Reuters reported that Deutsche bank told clients it can no longer guarantee full access to Russian stocks that belong to them.

Swapping DRs for shares in the Russian company is a first step towards an effort to recover their money.
