While Mr. Richardson was photographing Ms. Portillo topless, the model contends that the photographer began posing with her, touching her breasts and pressing his exposed penis up against her body; eventually Mr. Richardson “forcibly inserted his penis into her mouth, and ordered her to perform oral sex on him,” while she repeatedly said “no.” According to Ms. Portillo, the alleged assault was photographed by Mr. Richardson’s employees. The experience traumatized her, according to the lawsuit, and Ms. Portillo returned to Spain about a week later. That fall, some of the photographs of Ms. Portillo were included in an exhibition titled “Terry Richardson: Terryworld,” and in 2006 were published in a book, “Kibosh,” despite a 2005 cease-and-desist letter from Ms. Portillo, who claimed she was dropped by a Spanish modeling agency because of the explicit images. Ms. Portillo said she did not consent to the distribution or sale of Mr. Richardson’s photos. She had signed an undated release at his studio after the first photo shoot, but given her state of mind and that English wasn’t her first language, “did not know what she was signing,” according to the lawsuit.

After 25 years in Dutch politics without holding office, Wilders was set to lead coalition government talks and has a good chance of becoming prime minister. Ten-year Treasury yields hit a 16-year high of 5.021% in late October, but have fallen back to 4.414%. Some big investors and advisers believe, however, that reasons to cheer are short-lived and growing concerns over the economy will start weighting on asset prices early next year. His focus now is more on earnings, credit markets and broader economic data for signs of a potential slowdown. The U.S. presidential race next year is also a concern because it could be a source of more market instability. For a new boost in market performance, tech stocks will depend more on showing how AI can lift results, investors said.

Stengs grabs hat-trick as Dutch thrash Gibraltar 6-0
  + stars: | 2023-11-21 | by ( ) www.reuters.com   time to read: +1 min
FARO, Portugal, Nov 21 (Reuters) - Netherlands' Calvin Stengs netted a hat-trick as they easily disposed of Gibraltar 6-0 in their Euro 2024 qualifier on Tuesday although the Dutch did not come anywhere near to France’s record score at the weekend. Mats Wieffer, Teun Koopmeiners and substitute Cody Gakpo added the other goals for an experimental Dutch side completing their qualifying campaign, having already secured their place at next year’s finals in Germany. Stengs had the Dutch ahead in the 10th minute and added two more after the break, completing his treble with a strong left- foot effort inside the penalty box. The Dutch goal haul, however, was nothing near the 14 that France scored against Gibraltar in Nice on Saturday to set a record in the European Championship qualifiers. They finished second behind France in Group B while Gibraltar ended bottom after losing all eight games, conceding 41 and failing to score.

Amazon founder Jeff Bezos' fund to support homeless families announced $117 million in new grants on Tuesday to organizations across the U.S. and Puerto Rico, which is a part of a $2 billion commitment Bezos made in 2018 to support homeless families and to run free preschools. That brings the amount granted by the Bezos Day 1 Families Fund to benefit homeless families to almost $640 million. The Salvation Army of Greater Charlotte received a second grant this year after first being awarded $5 million by the fund in 2018. The Bezos Day 1 Families Fund did not give a timeframe for when the pledged $2 billion would be distributed or what portion would go to homeless families. Last year, Bezos gave away $122.2 million and has pledged around $12.8 billion in charitable donations, according to The Chronicle of Philanthropy.

WASHINGTON, Nov 20 (Reuters) - A group of U.S. President Joe Biden's fellow Democrats urged him on Monday to encourage Israel to take immediate steps - including reopening a major border crossing - to help provide humanitarian aid for innocent civilians in Gaza. "Eliminating the threat posed by Hamas and protecting civilians are not mutually exclusive aims. Indeed, International Humanitarian Law requires that civilians be protected during armed conflict," a group of Democratic senators wrote in a letter to Biden. The letter was led by Senators Tammy Baldwin, Tim Kaine and Chris Van Hollen, and signed by at least eight other Senate Democrats. U.N. aid chief Martin Griffiths last week implored Israel to allow humanitarian aid into Gaza via the Kerem Shalom crossing.

What to Know About Assisted Living
  + stars: | 2023-11-19 | by ( Jordan Rau | ) www.nytimes.com   time to read: +2 min
It’s worth checking a few months after moving in to see if the care plan is more than the resident needs. Is it better to go with a facility that charges a set monthly amount or one that bills for each service? That’s also true if you need assistance with many things. Some facilities have an independent living wing or a program with à la carte pricing, which may be best for those who need only sporadic assistance. Be honest with yourself, and the facility, about what you can afford when the bill rises, because it’s going to.
