The UAW said that 8,700 union members at Ford's Kentucky Truck Plant went on strike after the union said the No. For the past four weeks, UAW President Shawn Fain ordered new walkouts on Fridays in video addresses. CNN —The United Auto Workers union surprised Ford with a major escalation of its strike, ordering workers off the job at the company’s largest plant. “We have been crystal clear, and we have waited long enough, but Ford has not gotten the message,” said UAW President Shawn Fain. He said that the union wanted a different offer from Ford from what it had presented before. The UAW has been on strike against not only Ford, but also General Motors and Stellantis, since September 15. By hitting the Kentucky Truck Plant, the union is going after a much more profitable part of Ford’s line-up.

DETROIT – United Auto Workers has unexpectedly expanded its U.S. strikes at Ford Motor to a highly profitable SUV and truck plant for the automaker in Kentucky. It’s not that simple, though, and some researchers argue that the labor savings of electric vehicles have been greatly overstated. These were among several research reports that found little total difference in the labor hour requirements of EV manufacturing compared to gas-powered cars. CNN —The Powerball jackpot soared to an estimated $1.4 billion for Saturday – which would be the third largest jackpot in the game’s history – after Wednesday night’s drawing turned up no grand prize winner. The prize up for grabs Saturday would also be the fifth largest US lottery jackpot, Powerball says.
