REUTERS/Piroschka van de WouwAMSTERDAM, June 19 (Reuters) - Renowned body artist Henk Schiffmacher and his team are offering tattoos of Dutch master Rembrandt van Rijn's most iconic works in a pop-up studio installed at the painter's former house and now museum in Amsterdam. "To own a Rembrandt, you have to have a lot of money, even if you want a small little etching. People interested had to be quick - the week-long event was sold out in 15 minutes, head of the Rembrandt House Museum Milou Halbesma said, although daily walk-ins are also available. Rembrandt House employee Lillian Ramcharan was the first to get a tattoo this week. Schiffmacher is relishing the experience of working in Rembrandt's house and plans to get a tattoo of the master's work himself.

Robert Plunket was living in a trailer park in Englewood, Fla., with his pug, Meatball, when an email interrupted his life of quiet retirement. “I did feel like an obscure has-been,” Plunket said, “because that’s what I was, technically.”Now, Plunket is relishing his new status as a former has-been. This month, the independent publisher New Directions reissued his novel, “My Search for Warren Harding,” a biting comedy about a scholar who goes to extreme, morally questionable lengths to access letters Warren Harding sent to his mistress. What’s even more unusual about Plunket, and his unlikely return, is how stealthily influential his fiction has been over the decades. His admirers include writers like the novelist Ann Beattie and the journalist Frank Rich, comedians like Amy Sedaris and Larry David.

The satisfaction is nearly universal, but comes with a queasy aftertaste: Democrats are relishing the possibility that Donald J. Trump will get his comeuppance at last. But when the mocking laughter fades, in its place remains a much more lasting anxiety. What will this do to the country? “I don’t want to see this chaos machine do any more damage to the country, to hurt any more people,” Representative Greg Landsman of Ohio, a moderate freshman from Cincinnati, said in an interview Tuesday, referring to the former president. “Democrats, Republicans, independents, everyone has to sort of take a disposition of seriousness.”

When I spoke to Potts earlier this week, she said part of her motivation for writing the book was that the conversation about who is struggling in America had been very focused on men. For all the advances we’ve made for girls and women, Potts said, “There are a lot of communities around the country where women are still really expected to take a back seat for men,” and they’re expected to rely on men. There’s also a permissive attitude toward boys that girls don’t benefit from. And after years of struggling, Darci is now sober and doing well, she says. The takeaway is that problems for girls and women in some parts of America are as sticky and complicated as the problems for boys and men: They’re cultural, they’re economic, and they’re entrenched.

DUBLIN, May 15 (Reuters) - Joy Neville says selection on merit is more important to her than "tags and labels" as she prepares to become the first woman to officiate at a men's Rugby World Cup in France later this year. "I'd like to think that I'm there because I'm good enough," Neville told Reuters. "I've always asked to be selected through merit and for no other reason – drop all the other tags and labels. Neville said the role of TMO can be a thankless one, drawing criticism both for interfering to much or for not getting sufficently involved in matches. In the role of TMO sometimes you're damned if you do and damned if you don't," she says.

LIVERPOOL, England, April 22 (Reuters) - Diogo Jota and Mohamed Salah were on target as Liverpool edged Premier League strugglers Nottingham Forest 3-2 in a riveting clash at Anfield on Saturday to climb to seventh in the table. Jota restored Liverpool's lead with a sharp finish on the turn in the 55th minute but Liverpool were pegged back again when Virgil Van Dijk's clearing header fell to an unmarked Gibbs-White. Both Forest goals came from long throw-ins and Liverpool manager Juergen Klopp was pleased with the result but frustrated by his side's shaky defensive performance against a team who have the second-worst attacking record in the league. Liverpool sealed the win three minutes after Forest's second when Trent Alexander-Arnold picked out Salah with a low free kick and the Egyptian striker held off Remo Freuler before side-footing past Keylor Navas. Steve Cooper set up Forest with a flat back five, looking to contain Liverpool, and the strategy worked in the first half, though the visitors rode their luck at times.
GDYNIA, Poland, April 20 (Reuters) - At 88, Polish retiree Piotr Dudek is hoping to officially become the world's oldest windsurfer - still relishing the battle with the wind and waves as he takes to the water and teaches children to enjoy the sport. Dudek has been windsurfing for 40 years and is known by the nickname "Junior", coined for him by his friends when he was around 80. "The challenge is to learn to surf and to control the elements, nature, because it is a struggle with the wind, with water, with a wobbly board. It is a sport that requires a lot of physical fitness," said Dudek, who was a sailor before he retired. But the fact that he could be the world's oldest surfer took him by surprise.
MILAN, April 20 (Reuters) - Inter Milan coach Simone Inzaghi described their run to the Champions League semi-finals as a dream and said they will give it all they have got against city rivals AC Milan as they battle to become the first Italian finalists for six years. "It's historic, because of what they are doing, reaching both the Champions League and Coppa Italia semi-finals. "We know that some points were left on the road in the Italian league, but it's most because of a crazy schedule. The Milan teams have met twice in the Champions League knockout stages, the 2002-03 semis and 2004-05 quarter-finals with AC Milan, seven-times European champions, winning both ties. Inter and AC Milan will clash at the San Siro in the first leg on May 10 and on May 16 in the second leg.
The 2021 Roland Garros runner-up returns to clay hoping to claim his first trophy of the year at Monte Carlo, having beaten Andrey Rublev and Alejandro Davidovich Fokina in the previous two finals of the prestigious tournament. "It's a pleasure to return to the claycourt swing," Monte Carlo resident Tsitsipas told reporters. "It's one of the most fascinating parts of the year, starting the claycourt swing in Monte Carlo, which is my favourite place in the world. Tsitsipas said he enjoyed tactical battles on clay, a surface on which he has won four of his nine titles. There is a lot of strategy involved," said Tsitsipas, who will begin his campaign against Benjamin Bonzi or Bernabe Zapata Miralles.

Data shared between the company and TMZ shows that as news of the Trump indictment broke, searches for "Stormy Daniels" rose steeply, peaking at 631,254 last Friday. But her popularity grew even more on the day of the arraignment, reaching beyond 650,000 searches, Pornhub told TMZ. Ten Hag is not resting on his laurels and is relishing keeping United competing for four trophies, with a League Cup final to come on Sunday. "What we do different you will see tomorrow on the pitch," Ten Hag told a news conference on Wednesday. We have to keep in the same mindset that every day we want to give a better version of ourselves." Ten Hag also added that captain Harry Maguire and Brazilian forward Antony have returned to fitness and could feature against Barca, but French striker Anthony Martial is still out.
People on Weibo are relishing the chance to mock the US after a 50-car train derailed in Ohio. It's another example of inflammatory rhetoric that's left to simmer on China's version of Twitter. On Tuesday, four of the top 20 "hot searches" on Weibo, the Twitter of China, featured videos or news blog articles about the derailment. Widespread US media coverage and discussion of the Chinese balloon incensed Chinese state media and Weibo users. After all, anything can happen in a country that can arrest journalists reporting this," wrote blogger MaVision of the train derailment.
House Republicans accidentally gave Democrats a supermajority on a new panel they created. Under the resolution passed by voice vote on Tuesday, Democrats would get 9 seats on a 12 member panel. But the plan is to actually have 21 seats on the committee, and the error will almost certainly get fixed. That would give Democrats a 9-3 supermajority. The committee emerged out of Kevin McCarthy's bid to become speaker, and was among the concessions he made to GOP hardliners.
WASHINGTON — Embattled Rep. George Santos is refusing to face the music, but he appears to be relishing his moment in the spotlight. The New York Republican and freshman fabulist, the subject of federal, state, local and international investigations, was spotted Wednesday night by NBC News smiling, laughing and taking dozens of selfies with patrons during karaoke night at a popular D.C. barbecue joint. “It’s bizarre.”Rep. Tim Burchett, R-Tenn., whose office is just down the hall from Santos’, suggested all that attention could benefit Santos. “You always know more than I do about myself.”Later that night, Santos strolled into Hill Country, where he spent more than an hour schmoozing and chatting up patrons. A Santos staffer belted “Build Me Up Buttercup.”Approached by NBC News at Hill Country, Santos said: “You’re not going to try to interview me.
In a moment of disarming honesty after his five-set win over Holger Rune, Rublev conceded he was not relishing the opportunity to face 21-times Grand Slam champion Djokovic on his favourite court. "No one wants to face Novak," Rublev blurted out with a laugh on Rod Laver Arena, albeit prematurely as Djokovic had yet to play his own fourth-round match. "He's an established top-five, top-10 player already for a few years," Djokovic said of Rublev, who has now reached a Grand Slam quarter-final seven times but never cracked the final four. The other men's match on Wednesday features unseeded Americans Ben Shelton and Tommy Paul, with both reaching their first Grand Slam quarter-final to continue the success of the U.S. men this year. Fifth seed Aryna Sabalenka has yet to drop a set in 2023 and will aim to reach her first Australian Open semi-final when she faces unseeded Croatian Donna Vekic.
CARACAS, Venezuela — Venezuela’s opposition has selected an all-female team of mostly unknown exiled former lawmakers to replace the beleaguered Juan Guaidó as the face of its faltering efforts to remove socialist President Nicolas Maduro. Meanwhile, Maduro’s supporters seemed to be relishing the opposition’s squabbles. At Thursday’s session inaugurating the legislative year, loyalist lawmakers re-elected Jorge Rodriguez to lead the National Assembly. U.S. State Department spokesman Ned Price said Tuesday that the U.S. stands ready to work with any individual, or collective body, chosen by the 2015 National Assembly to represent it. We support the 2015 National Assembly as the only remaining vestige of democracy in Venezuela.”

The Australian Open begins on Jan. 16.
