Taylor Swift fans had just eight hours to buy tickets for last-minute Thursday night previews of her Eras Tour concert film. Box office analysts don't see the small Thursday night haul as any indication of the potential success of Swift's film. Expectations are that Swift could tally between $40 million and $60 million on Friday, on her way to a an opening weekend draw of as much as $150 million. Swift's film is on pace to open in around 3,850 theaters, making it the widest domestic release of a concert film. AMC Entertainment, which is distributing the film, reported last week that presales for its theaters had already exceeded $100 million for the full run of Swift's film.

The Brewers have reached the playoffs five of the last six years, the exception coming last season. There’s a sense of urgency associated with this playoff berth because of the long-term uncertainty surrounding some key figures. The Brewers were one win away from the World Series in 2018 when they lost a Game 7 at home to the Los Angeles Dodgers, but they haven’t won a postseason series since. Although Milwaukee owns a combined 2-10 record against the Atlanta Braves and Dodgers — the NL’s top two playoff seeds — the Brewers’ pitching gives them reason for optimism. The Brewers have lost seven of their last eight postseason games, a stretch that started with that Game 7 defeat in 2018.

Despite placing her previous documentaries and concert films on streaming services in the past, the iconic pop star opted to deliver her Eras Tour film directly to cinemagoers this October. Of course, the theater company will generate significantly more than that in concession sales, perhaps the real upside to Swift's film release. "Taylor Swift, being a cultural powerhouse and shaper of new business models, may have a hand in bringing back the old-school style concert film." Swift's concert film seems destined to overtake the current record holder for a theatrical concert film. Miley Cyrus' "Best of Both Worlds" concert film tallied $31.1 million during its opening weekend back in 2008, appearing in around 680 locations.

CNN —The right-wing media universe is maturing — and finding great success — beyond typical news commentary. That’s quite a feat, considering singer Christopher Anthony Lunsford was virtually unknown just weeks ago. It’s also illustrative of the power amassed by right-wing media forces, taking unknown quantities and churning them out into overnight blockbuster hits, a weaponized cudgel against perceived enemies in mainstream institutions. And, while he is a well known country singer, Jason Aldean’s widely criticized “Try That In a Small Town” was not much of a commercial success until it was boosted by right-wing media to the top of the Billboard charts. As conservatives increasingly see legacy media companies and performers as not only disagreeable, but outright evil, it makes sense that they would look toward outsiders to fill their entertainment needs.
