A North Dakota woman has been accused of fatally poisoning her boyfriend with antifreeze in what the authorities say may have been a plot to claim part of his $30 million inheritance. The woman, Ina Thea Kenoyer, 47, of Minot, N.D., was charged with murder on Monday in the Sept. 5 death of Steven Edward Riley, Jr., 51, her boyfriend of 10 years. Ms. Kenoyer was being held at the Ward County Detention Center in Minot, a city roughly 110 miles north of the state’s capital, Bismarck. She was set to appear in court on Wednesday; it was unclear if she had a lawyer. On Sept. 4, emergency workers were called to the couple’s home in Minot, where Mr. Riley was found unresponsive, according to an affidavit prepared by Erin Bonney, an officer with the Minot Police Department, and filed in Ward County District Court on Monday.

CNN —A fire at a wedding in northern Iraq has killed at least 100 people and injured 150 others, according to the Iraqi state news agency INA citing local authorities. The disaster in the Hamdaniya district of northeast Nineveh governorate, was set off by fireworks, candles, and other materials used during the wedding celebration, the Iraqi Civil Defense said. Nineveh governor Najm Al-Jubouri told the Iraqi state news agency INA that the injured were transferred to hospitals in Nineveh and the Kurdistan region. Videos from the scene show thick smoke billowing out of the at the Al Haytham Wedding Hall while crowds and ambulances gather outside. The wedding hall where the fire broke out was covered with highly flammable Ecobond panels that violated safety instructions requirements, according to the Iraqi Civil Defense, ANI reported.

Export control laws restrict companies from sharing sensitive information and technology with certain individuals from other countries. Rebecca Bernhard, a Minneapolis-based labor lawyer who represents companies, said employers subject to export control laws often ignore the ban on citizenship-based bias in the federal Immigration and Nationality Act (INA), exposing them to legal action. Out of more than 10,000 hires, SpaceX only hired one asylee during that period, according to the lawsuit. The DOJ did not directly cite its guidance in the SpaceX lawsuit, but used nearly identical language to describe the company's alleged violations. "Export control laws and regulations do not prohibit or restrict employers from hiring asylees and refugees; those laws treat asylees and refugees just like U.S. citizens," the department said.

On Sunday, DDB Philippines issued a statement “profusely” apologizing for the “highly inappropriate” use of foreign stock footage in the video, which has since been taken down. WASHINGTON, April 20 (Reuters) - The U.S. Justice Department said on Thursday it reached a settlement with memory chipmaker Micron Technology Inc (MU.O) to resolve an allegation of immigration-related employment discrimination. The investigation began when a U.S. citizen worker complained that Micron unfairly denied him employment because of his citizenship status. The Justice Department said it determined that Micron unlawfully preferred a temporary visa worker for the position, failing to meaningfully consider the U.S. citizen's qualifications. The amount of the civil penalty was not specified in the Justice Department statement. The Justice Department also released a fact sheet on Tuesday to help employers avoid immigration-related discrimination.

London CNN —Natural gas prices in Europe and the United States have tumbled to levels last seen before Russia sparked a global energy crisis by invading Ukraine. Even so, European gas prices are still historically high, and could rise again this year if demand from China picks up or supplies are disrupted. Wholesale prices were already shooting up in the months before the war as economies reopened from pandemic lockdowns. “It will take a bit [of time] for the fall in the wholesale prices of natural gas to [feed into] into the retail prices,” he said. That will keep Europe at a competitive disadvantage to the United States, where gas prices are about five times lower.
