That pullback has materialized and according to our Elliott Wave analysis of the bitcoin chart, support has possibly been formed in the zone of $59k - $49k. Looking at the 3-chart overlay below you'll find bitcoin, gold, and US 10-year yields since 2020. First is that gold and Bitcoin (blue and orange) have a very close positive correlation. Pulling it all together higher rates have a negative impact on all three; bitcoin, gold, and the stock market, which are all showing a positive relationship in recent months. In summary, being very bullish on the stock market, I would like to see bitcoin and gold move higher along with lower US yields.

RBC Capital Markets added two major global oil and gas companies to its Global Energy Best Ideas list. Those additions come as RBC adjusts its list of preferred energy stocks, simultaneously removing Santos , an Australian oil and gas producer. The stocks in the RBC Global Energy Best Ideas list were collectively resilient last month, declining by just 0.5%. However, it still outperformed the iShares Global Energy ETF , which fell by 2.5% during the same time. RBC has been equally bullish on Woodside Energy , Australia's largest independent oil and gas producer, and its inclusion in its energy basket.

The next round of filings for spot ether ETFs with the SEC is due today, part of the ongoing regulatory process required before spot ether ETFs can be launched. One thing's for sure: the launch of spot bitcoin ETFs this year has been a success. That's still true for this year, but two of the top 10 ETF inflows year to date have been into spot bitcoin ETFs: iShares Bitcoin Trust (IBIT) at number four, and Fidelity Wise Origin Bitcoin Trust (FBTC) at number eight. Would 50% of the inflows of the spot bitcoin ETF be a win? We'll talk about this with Matt Hougan from Bitwise Asset Management, one of the applicants for a spot ether ETF.

The best-performing exchange-traded funds in the second half will likely be decided by broader shifts in the markets and economy. Even with mounting uncertainty, however, there are some types of ETFs that could emerge as winners. Equities A handful of stocks were big winners in the first half, and some narrowly focused ETFs were able to ride that wave. Single-stock funds tied to Nvidia have also seen heavy interest, including the GraniteShares 2x Long Nvidia ETF (NVDL) . However, Hougan said he didn't think that omission would be a big hurdle for ETF investors.

Despite the pullback, a primary uptrend remains in place for the CAC 40, in addition to the related iShares MSCI France ETF (EWQ) . Both proxies for French stocks appear to be finding their footing, which suggests that the market is welcoming the latest news regarding the election. Once the final outcome is determined, it would be natural for investors to respond favorably to the removal of uncertainty, particularly given the oversold status of French stocks. This suggests a counter-trend phase of outperformance is possible for French stocks versus U.S. stocks. Recent stabilization in many French stocks shows a positive reaction to widespread intermediate-term oversold conditions, which we gauge using the weekly stochastic oscillator.

The U.K.'s center-left Labour Party has won a substantial parliamentary majority in the country's general election, unseating the incumbent Conservatives after 14 years. Manthey and her team picked the FTSE 250 index , which can be traded through exchange-traded funds such as iShares FTSE 250 UCITS ETF or Vanguard FTSE 250 UCITS , over the large-cap index FTSE 100 , as their "preferred post-election trade." The strategists, however, cautioned that historical data pointed toward lackluster returns immediately after the election results. More broadly, the investment bank's economist Anna Titareva said U.K. markets remain "heavily discounted" since after Brexit. By contrast, the S & P 500 has already reached Jefferies' bull case of 5,400, the strategist noted. The right catalyst For investors, the bull case for small caps that prevailed when the year began, still holds. More immediately, second-quarter earnings may prove a positive catalyst for small caps since expectations are so low, according to Jefferies' DeSanctis. On a trailing 12-month basis, the S & P 500 is trading at a multiple of 25 times earnings. Ultimately, however, many investors say that a rotation into small caps is coming, even if it hasn't happened yet.

These ETFs, often called "buffer funds," use options to give investors downside protection in exchange for giving up potential upside. The funds come with different time horizons, and new funds are launching or resetting every month, so there are several options for investors to buy now and protect themselves through the November election. Many of the ETFs offer something in the range of 10% to 30% downside protection and are often called buffer funds. Other products that offer 100% downside protection — in exchange for smaller upside — are sometimes marketed as "principal protection funds." Jim Saulnier, a CFP and founder of Jim Saulnier & Associates in Fort Collins, Colorado, said his clients use both the buffer funds and the 100% downside protection funds.

Investors seeking to boost returns in their 60/40 portfolio should look to what AllianceBernstein calls "the magnificent others." "If you're finding companies that are giving you dividend growth rates of anywhere say from 10% to 12%, well north of inflation, that has a nice compounding effect," he said. What makes these dividend-paying stocks appealing is that free cash flow is expected to grow roughly 7% over the next five to six years, he said. Instead, investors should focus on companies that have free cash flow, a strong balance sheet and are competitively positioned, he said. Within dividend-paying names, Czaicki sees three specific areas of opportunity: energy transition and security, supply chain security, and national defense and cybersecurity.

UBS executives covering fixed income and equity strategies outlined in a recent note four different scenarios come November: a blue sweep, a Biden presidency with a split Congress, a red sweep, and a Trump presidency with a split Congress. The two overwhelmingly likely outcomes would be a Biden presidency with a divided Congress (40%) and a Trump presidency with a Republican Congress (45%), per UBS. A Biden victory with a divided CongressA Biden presidency will likely usher in increased tax rates and regulatory oversight, UBS said. A Trump presidency combined with a Republican Congress would mean an extension of the current lower marginal tax rates, the bank said. While antitrust regulation will likely ease under Trump, he's hardly a Big Tech supporter: Trump sued Facebook, Google, and Twitter (now X) in 2021.

Preferred stocks can offer investors plenty of attractive income – and do so at a favorable tax rate – but they should proceed with caution before adding them to their portfolio. Preferred stocks are hybrid assets, combining attributes of bonds and equities, and their issuers include banks and utilities . Morgan Stanley analysts say they are expecting the computer memory sector to hit new highs over the rest of 2024, despite investors "generally" not being comfortable buying such stocks at such lofty prices. Bank of America sees more room for Broadcom to run, with its sales growth likely to double as a result of the artificial intelligence craze. Analyst Vivek Arya hiked his price target by $150 to $2,150 while reiterating his buy rating and top-pick designation. Arya's new target implies that shares of the semiconductor stock can rally around 30% from last week's closing level. A key part of Arya's call is sales growth approximately doubling to a compound annual rate of around 13% between the 2024 and 2026 fiscal years.
