Each episode will focus on one of those states — the distracted brain, the frightened brain, the depressed brain and others — to spotlight what is going on in our heads and how it affects our bodies. But it’s not so easy to know what to eat for brain health, or even how to measure it. Many of us have been told that foods such as blueberries, salmon, nuts and leafy greens are so-called brain foods. Nutritional psychiatrist Dr. Uma Naidoo has built a career around figuring out which foods improve brain function and positively influence the way we feel. What can you do to nourish your brain and boost your mood?

What passing gas can say about your health
  + stars: | 2023-08-16 | by ( Kristen Rogers | ) edition.cnn.com   time to read: +6 min
“There are two sources of ‘gas,’ and not all gas is gas. Passing gas “between maybe five and 15 times per day … is totally normal,” said Dr. William Chey, the H. Marvin Pollard Professor of Gastroenterology at the University of Michigan. Gas isn’t as much of an indicator of gut health as bowel movement frequency and texture. But dietary choices can lead to more or less gas, and there are certain points at which gas is worth mentioning to a doctor. The reason for that is, if things move very slowly through the GI tract, they have more time to interact with the bacteria in the GI tract, particularly the colon.

Tired after eating? Here’s why, and how to fix it
  + stars: | 2023-08-01 | by ( Kristen Rogers | ) edition.cnn.com   time to read: +7 min
The tendency to get tired after eating isn’t inherently suggestive of something amiss. If you had a meal high in fat — such as fried foods or pizza — that could make you feel tired. “That can really be an energy zapper.”Just like high-sugar foods, sugary drinks can also make you feel tired once the crash hits, Stefanski said. Choosing more balanced meals and snacks can help you feel less tired after eating, experts said. The test measures average blood sugar levels and shows how much glucose is attached to hemoglobin in red blood cells, Stefanski said.

That number has since fallen to 1.9 pounds of cottage cheese per person in one year in 2021, USDA data shows. But is cottage cheese— or any cheese for that matter— actually good for you? Compared to other cheeses, including American cheese, cottage cheese is a much healthier option because it's less processed, says Shanahan. "Cottage cheese is healthier than American cheese because it's fermented and has some live bacteria in there [like] yogurt has," she says. "I'm not confident to suggest cottage cheese would be significantly different than other types of cheese," Sun tells CNBC Make It.

In Naples, Italy, von Bremzen settles into a flat in the still ungentrified Spanish Quarter. Somewhere here, between hanging laundry, loose pit bulls and the beatific presence of Diego Maradona, is the secret to a true pizza margherita. The legend goes like this: In 1889, Naples receives a visit from King Umberto and his beautiful, charismatic queen, Margherita.

New York CNN —Mother’s Day is one of the busiest days for the American restaurant industry, presenting a massive operational challenge to restaurants. In fact, if I die and go to hell, I completely expect it to be Mother’s Day. Mother’s Day presents “an operational challenge,” said Shawn Walchef, owner of five Cali BBQ eateries in the San Diego area. “Your Mother’s Day meal can’t be obnoxiously expensive,” said Derek Axelrod, co-owner of Manhattan’s Upper East Side T bar restaurant. Their Mother’s Day menu will likely be upwards of $100 person, but won’t turn much of a profit, he said.
Warren Buffett's Berkshire Hathaway faces inflation, higher interest rates, and tighter credit. Its subsidiaries are also seeing signs that their customers, suppliers, and partners are being pinched by higher prices, steeper interest rates on their debts, and perhaps even reduced access to credit. "You just kind of have to take it," Egan said about some of the higher costs. Moreover, longstanding suppliers who refrained from passing on their higher costs to See's in 2021 have been forced to charge it more. The fast-food chain's franchisees face much higher costs for equipment, building materials, and construction work than they did a few years ago.
A Redfin report found that 30% of Gen Zers owned homes at age 25 in 2022. Gen Zers were greeted by a stronger labor market as they established their careers. So how did Gen Z gain the competitive edge? It all comes down to a healthy labor market, Daryl Fairweather, the chief economist at Redfin, told Insider. "It has a lot to do with the timing of when Gen Z entered the labor market versus when millennials did," Fairweather said.
Because of the versatility and hands-off aspect of the preparation, these are some of my favorite breakfast options for road trip vacations and camping adventures — but they work for busy at-home mornings, too. Overnight oats are one of the most versatile breakfast options out there — and can easily be taken on the road or enjoyed at home. NelliSyr/iStockphoto/Getty ImagesTartines, AKA open-faced sandwiches — or as I like to call them, “things on toast” — comprise a catchall category of breakfast options that can skew savory or sweet. When I have a few minutes and am feeling famished, my go-to move is to grab eggs and tortillas for breakfast tacos or burritos. Eggs and tortillas pair well in the morning to make breakfast tacos or burritos.
New York CNN —Bud Light Seltzer has a problem: People still think there’s beer in the spiked seltzer. “We launched Bud Light Seltzer with the Bud Light name in 2020 because it came with immediate benefits in terms of recognizability and distribution,” he said. From Bud Light Seltzer/YouTubeTo that end, Bud Light Seltzer is rolling out a new, year-long ad campaign with the slogan “100% Hard Seltzer, 0% Beer.” The debut TV spot shows a Bud Light Seltzer delivery truck rolling through a brown-colored desert with colorful bubbles floating through the back. In one ad shown during the 2020 Super Bowl, Bud Light Seltzer enlisted rapper Post Malone and showed the inside of his brain trying to decide to either buy Bud Light or Bud Light Seltzer from a convenience store. Sales of Bud Light Seltzer have fallen about 24% last year, the firm said, which is worse than the seltzer category on average, which fell nearly 15%.
