Finding parking spots was easier than I imagined and daily tasks took more time than expected. Rebecca Yarros confirmed Violet Sorrengail has a second signet power in the "Empyrean" series. After the book's release, Yarros said Violet's second signet had already manifested in "Iron Flame." Violet's second signet power could be many things, but fans have a few ideasThere are multiple popular theories on what Violet's signet may be, but the three most popular theories are distance wielding, communicating with the dead, and amplifying other people's powers. Some readers also think Violet's second signet is an amplification of other people's signets, which would allow her to make the people around her more powerful. Only the third book will reveal what Violet's second signet is, though fans may be waiting for a while.

A screenshot with a quote attributed to a U.S. military general saying that American troops must be “ready to die for Israel” is not a direct quotation, and stems from 2018. It is being shared online as if it were a real and recent quote in the context of the 2023 Israel-Palestinian conflict. “Top US general says American troops must be 'ready to die for Israel”, reads the headline in a screenshot of the article circulating on X (archived), and Facebook (archived). The article circulating about U.S. and Israeli troops dates to March 2018. The quote in the headline paraphrases a longer statement made by a U.S. general at the time.

PELLA, Iowa (AP) — Voters in a small Iowa city narrowly decided not to support giving their City Council more power over their local library. Just over half the voters in Pella rejected an advisory vote on whether the City Council should have more power over how the library spends its money and whether it pulls certain books from shelves, the Des Moines Register reported Wednesday. Opponents of the Pella measure persuaded voters that it's better to keep the library somewhat insulated from politics. Like in many Iowa communities, the City Council-appointed library board has control over spending, who to hire as director and whether to remove books that are challenged. A group of residents asked the library board in late 2021 to either remove “Gender Queer” or put it behind the checkout counter where kids can't get it.

NEW YORK (AP) — Former White House chief of staff Mark Meadows is being sued by his publisher for contradicting his book's claim about the the 2020 election. In a breach of contract lawsuit filed Friday in Florida, All Seasons cited media reports from last month alleging that Meadows knew Trump had lost to Democrat Joe Biden. “Meadows’ reported statements to the Special Prosecutor and/or his staff and his reported grand jury testimony squarely contradict the statements” in “The Chief's Chief,” according to the lawsuit, filed in Sarasota, Florida. “If such media reports are accurate, Meadows testified under oath that his book contains known falsehoods,” All Seasons alleged in its breach of contract suit. The All Seasons case is unusual both because it's based on media reports, not direct knowledge of Meadows' testimony, and because it's based on alleged factual errors.

By Hyunsu YimSEOUL (Reuters) - North Korea vowed to continue military action while criticizing the United States over a recent intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) test, state media KCNA said on Friday. A South Korean delegation visited the base and observed the ICBM launch in the first such a visit since 2016, according to the country's defence ministry. The article also criticized military moves by the U.S. and South Korea including the deployment of what it described as U.S. nuclear strategic bombers in South Korea. The U.S. and South Korea also held major air exercises involving 130 warplanes from both countries to simulate 24-hour wartime operations last month.
