Boeing and its largest union are expected to restart contract negotiations on Tuesday with the help of federal mediators, days after thousands of workers rejected a previous offer and went on strike. The company makes several airplanes, including the 737 Max, its most popular, in two factories outside the city. If the strike lasts for several weeks, analysts estimate that Boeing, which was already in a financially precarious position before the stoppage began, could lose billions of dollars. Workers last week overwhelmingly rejected a tentative contract that Boeing and union officials had negotiated, saying that it fell well short of what the union had initially sought on raises, retirement benefits and other issues. Tuesday’s meeting will take place in Seattle, where small teams of leaders from Boeing and the union will convene with representatives from the Federal Mediation and Conciliation Service, a government agency that helps to resolve labor disputes.

New York officials released Monday forensic sketches and informational flyers about a possible new victim in the Gilgo Beach serial killings case, in an effort to identify them and get new leads in the roughly 20-year-old homicide. The remains of the victim, referred to as “Asian Doe,” were found in 2011 near the bodies of at least 10 others near Long Island, New York’s Gilgo Beach. Long Island architect Rex Heuermann, 61, was arrested last year in connection with the Gilgo Beach serial killings. Heuermann was initially charged with killing three women — Megan Waterman, Amber Costello and Melissa Barthelemy — and dumping their bodies near Gilgo Beach. Authorities previously disclosed that “Asian Doe” was wearing women’s clothing, but did not provide further details.

Shares of Samsung Electronics fell as much as 3% on Friday, as workers at its southern Indian plant continued to strike, disrupting production at the consumer electronics unit for a fifth day. Hundreds of workers have been on strike since Monday, demanding the electronics conglomerate to recognize their union, raise wages and reduce working hours. The plant, located in the city of Chennai in southern India, makes electronic appliances including televisions, refrigerators and washing machines. Samsung Electronics is one of the leading players in India's smartphone and electronic appliances market.
