NEW YORK, April 25 (Reuters) - Months after his departure from “The Daily Show" in late 2022, comedian Trevor Noah won a Webby Award for comedy in the “America’s Door Problem” segment of the late-night talk show, in which he pushes for gun control and criticizes policymakers’ response to mass shootings. In Noah's segment, he skewers the beliefs of some conservatives that books, critical race theory, video games and rap music lead to gun violence. “Yeah, that’s right, that’s how evil critical race theory is — it's only been around for like a year and it’s already caused three decades of school shootings,” Noah said. Some notable past winners include talk show host Stephen Colbert, comedian Sarah Silverman, television producer Lorne Michaels and French filmmaker Michel Gondry. "I never saw myself as a speaker, let alone a motivational speaker," Leonard tells me while his assistant irons his jeans. 'When I ramble," Hunter told me, "hit me in the leg!" Every plane had been grounded, including the one stuck on the tarmac with an increasingly inebriated Hunter Thompson trapped inside. But by far the most all-consuming task was booking gigs for Hunter Thompson. Just before a debate with G. Gordon Liddy at Brown University, Hunter demanded that Betsy Berg, whom I now worked alongside at GTN, score him some crystal meth.
A man who pinned a DC Police officer to a Capitol door on January 6 was sentenced to over 7 years in prison. "Your actions are some of the most egregious crimes that were committed on that dark day," said the judge. "Your actions are some of the most egregious crimes that were committed on that dark day," the judge told McCaughey. Federal prosecutors had sought a sentence of 15 years and eight months, which would have been the longest sentence given to any Capitol riot defendant. "I do not foresee that changing anytime soon," he told the judge, calling McCaughey a "foot solider" in the push to overturn the election.
Egg prices fell by almost 11% in March, the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics said Wednesday, following a 7% decline in February and delivering relief from record-high prices over the winter. The decrease is largely due to a recovery in egg production and weaker consumer demand, said Brian Moscogiuri, global trade strategist at Eggs Unlimited, an egg supplier. Egg prices rose more than those of almost any other consumer good or service last year, in percentage terms. In a sign of the times, comedian Trevor Noah asked popstar Taylor Swift at the Grammy Awards in February if her fans could help reduce the high price of eggs. That's more than double the price in February 2022, when a dozen eggs cost $2, but is down 61 cents from $4.82 in January 2023, which was a record high.
This is an excerpt from the Personal Finance team's weekly Twitter Space, "This week, your wallet." Egg prices have entered the zeitgeist. Comedian Trevor Noah told Taylor Swift at the Grammy Awards on Sunday that the pop star has "the best fans in the world," subsequently asking if they can help reduce the high price of eggs. Unfortunately, factors influencing egg prices at the grocery store are likely beyond the control of "Swifties." Here are three things to know about egg prices right now.
"Conservative podcasters were 11 times more likely than liberal podcasters to share claims fact-checked as false or unsubstantiated," the study said. Fifty-six of the podcasters reviewed shared false or unsubstantiated claims at some point, the study found. In total, more than 70% of the podcasts reviewed shared false claims at some point, including those described as "liberal," "moderate," or "unknown." The study noted that it included far more conservative podcasts in its sample as a result of choosing those that are most popular on Apple Podcasts. The sheer rate of production adds to the issue, it said, with conservative podcasters making longer and more frequent episodes.
Sen. Ted Cruz denounced the Grammys as "evil" in a tweet on Sunday. The Republican was commenting on Sam Smith and Kim Petras' Satan-themed duet of 'Unholy.'. Some conservatives have rallied around opposition to trans rights and LGBTQ teaching. In 2021, Cardi B and Megan Thee Stallion's Grammy Awards performance of their single 'WAP,' attracted conservative fury. Smith is among pop's foremost provocateurs, and has stirred controversy with the video to their new song 'I'm not Here to Make Friends.'
Ticketmaster and Live Nation have faced scorn after ticketing chaos for Taylor Swift's Eras tour. Frequent Swift collaborator Jack Antonoff, who took home producer of the year for the second year running, shared some thoughts on the economics of touring and Live Nation. When asked by Variety Magazine for a comment on Live Nation, and their impact on the industry and touring, Antonoff said that the "whole thing is incredibly tough." Representatives for Antonoff and Live Nation Entertainment did not immediately respond to Insider's requests for comment. Swift's legion of fans have prompted renewed scrutiny of Live Nation and its 2010 merger with Ticketmaster.

On Thursday night, Trevor Noah approached his final taping as host of “The Daily Show” like a victory lap. The atmosphere in the room felt like friends hanging out on the last day of school, with the host, who took over from Jon Stewart seven years ago, in cheerfully high spirits. When Mr. Noah first started, he said, they couldn’t even fill all the seats. Thursday night, the house was packed.
Noah noted the strong influence American political parties hold, encouraging his audience to consider issues outside the lens of democrat or republican ideals. From my mom, my gran, my aunt – all these Black women in my life,” the host said. “If you truly want to learn about America, talk to Black women,” he continued. Noah took over the program in 2015 from long-time host Jon Stewart whose 16-year run of the show shaped it into a late-night staple. He kicks off his “Trevor Noah: Off The Record” tour in Atlanta on January 20.
So spare a thought for Roger Federer, the eight-time winner of the tournament, whose plans to visit SW19 recently were almost thwarted by an eager security guard. Though he hadn’t let Wimbledon know he was in town, Federer decided it might be nice to grab tea at the tennis club. “So then I get out and I’m like, ‘Yes, hello, I was just wondering how I can get into Wimbledon? Please believe me, I am a member, where do I get in?’”Federer, who has won Wimbledon eight times, celebrates during the men's singles final against Andy Roddick in 2004. Of course, Wimbledon wants it to be known that in spite of the saga, the door is always open for Federer.

Not that that justifies my behavior at all.”Smith said that what was most painful to him was that his actions made it “hard for other people.”“And it’s like I understood the idea where they say hurt people hurt people,” he said. “That was a rage that had been bottled for a really long time,” Smith said. “It was a lot of things,” Smith said in response. But at the end of the day, I lost it,” Smith told Noah. At the Oscars, Rock was on stage presenting an award when he made a joke about Smith's wife, Jada Pinkett Smith, that referenced the 1997 film "G.I. It was unclear whether Rock was aware that Pinkett Smith has a condition that causes hair loss. Smith marched onto the stage and slapped Rock. ... That was a rage that had been bottled for a really long time ... but I understand the pain," Smith told Noah.

The Daily Show is being criticized after a segment about Britain’s first Asian and nonwhite prime minister, Rishi Sunak. Monday’s episode included a 6 1/2 minute segment in which senior correspondent Ronny Chieng said Sunak wasn’t Asian because he was Indian. “I know everyone is excited that this is the first Asian prime minister but let’s be clear, Indians are not Asians, OK? I bet if I show up in a Bollywood film, I’m just going to blend right in, right? Indians, Pakistanis and Bangladeshis make up the largest demographic of Asians and Asian British in the country, according to the Office of National Statistics.
