The same Chinese brokers who were laundering fentanyl proceeds were now heavily involved in marijuana trafficking across the U.S. as well. Over the past decade, Chinese organized crime groups in the U.S. quietly became the dominant money launderers for Mexican cartels. Since 2023, federal prosecutors have charged at least 31 people linked to Chinese groups accused of laundering cartel drug money. In the ensuing months, the team began to understand for the first time how the Chinese became the Mexican cartels’ go-to money launderers. The Chinese money brokers then arrange for the cartels to receive the equivalent amount in pesos or cryptocurrency in Mexico.

With his victory in the men’s floor exercise final, Yulo on Saturday became the first Filipino man ever to win an Olympic gold medal, the first Filipino to win any medal in gymnastics and the second Filipino to ever win a gold medal. The video, released by the Baltimore Police Department this week to NBC affiliate WBAL of Baltimore, shows the officers' stunned reactions after the enormous structure was taken down. The officer arrives at 1:48 a.m. and asks an officer already at the scene: "Is that the Key Bridge collapsed?" "Yeah it's the whole bridge, a ship lost its steering and the whole bridge is down in the river," he responds. The original officer, struggling to take in the size of the disaster then says: "I mean, that's the Key Bridge ... "That's a long fall," one officer says of the missing construction workers.

It was a sweltering day in Palm Springs, and a few intrepid tourists braved the unforgiving sun to snap selfies at the stilettoed feet of a colossal Marilyn Monroe, her white dress seeming to billow up in the hot dry wind. Some of them had heard she was not likely to be standing there much longer. “That’s why we came today — to take pictures,” said Lauri Hatcher, who used to live in Palm Springs and returns each year. “Because it makes me super sad.”The statue — a 26-foot tall, 17-ton Monroe in her famous subway grate pose from the 1955 movie “The Seven Year Itch” — had bitterly divided the desert city. Some objected that it blocked views of the Palm Springs Art Museum and confronted visitors leaving the museum with Monroe’s exposed underwear.
