NEW DELHI, Jan 7 (Reuters) - Air India has issued show cause notice and de-rostered one pilot and four cabin crew as it investigates the handling of an unruly passenger on a flight from New York to Delhi in November, the airline's chief executive office said on Saturday. The Tata group-owned airline has faced criticism from India's aviation regulator following an incident on a Nov. 26 flight in which a male passenger, while apparently inebriated, urinated on a female co-passenger. "Air India acknowledges that it could have handled these matters better, both in the air and on the ground and is committed to taking action," the airline's CEO and managing director Campbell Wilson said in a statement on Saturday. Wilson said Air India has initiated multiple measures to improve its response to such incidents, including a review of airline policies and reporting processes. Air India will provide full cooperation to the affected passenger, regulators and law enforcement authorities, Wilson said.

Dec 28 (Reuters) - Aircraft lessor BOC Aviation Ltd (2588.HK) said on Wednesday it had ordered 40 Boeing Co (BA.N) 737 MAX planes to be delivered in 2027 and 2028, in a year-end boost to the U.S. manufacturer's order book. The Singapore-based lessor said it also amended its existing purchase agreement with Boeing as part of the deal, resulting in it having 80 737 MAX jets on order in total, to be delivered from 2023 to 2028. Boeing's total aircraft orders net of cancellations for the year reached 571 in the 11 months ended November, while rival Airbus SE (AIR.PA) reported 825 net orders in the same period. Both manufacturers are expected to receive large orders soon from Air India, which is negotiating a major fleet renewal and expansion under new owner Tata Group that industry sources said could involve nearly 500 aircraft. REUTERS/Peter CziborraPARIS, Dec 21 (Reuters) - Airbus (AIR.PA) plans to deepen its industrial presence in India, Chief Executive Guillaume Faury said on Wednesday after meeting the country's prime minister. Faury's comments on industrial presence come as India is increasingly involved in the civil supply chain. Airbus declined to comment and Tata Group was not immediately available to comment. In October, Tata Group and Airbus said they would make the C-295 military transport aircraft in India.
LONDON/NEW DELHI, Dec 16 (Reuters) - Air India is close to a deal to order more than 200 Boeing (BA.N) jets including 190 narrowbody 737 MAX and 30 widebody 787s - part of an historic fleet shake-up roughly split with Boeing's European rival Airbus, industry sources said on Friday. The deal is also expected to include an unspecified number of Boeing 777X long-range jets, they added. Airbus (AIR.PA) is separately moving towards a deal with Air India including at least 200 of its A320-family narrowbody jets as well as dozens of larger A350s, industry sources said. Industry sources said Airbus is expected to win a slightly larger share of the huge fleet replacement and expansion. Bloomberg reported on Friday that Boeing was closing in on an order for as many as 200 of its 737 MAX jets.
Feb 14 (Reuters) - India, the world's fastest growing aviation market, has seen increased competition with a number of domestic and international carriers adding flights and destinations across the country. Air India on Tuesday placed landmark orders for 470 jetliners from Airbus (AIR.PA) and Boeing (BA.N) as it carves out an ambitious renaissance under the Tata Group. The fleet expansion plans come after Tata Group in November announced a merger of all its airlines, including full service carriers Air India and Vistara and budget airlines Air India Express and AirAsia India. The new planes are expected to help Air India take on IndiGo and win back international traffic from airlines like Emirates. Here are the fleet sizes of the major Indian airlines and foreign carriers versus Air India's.

BENGALURU, Dec 12 (Reuters) - Indian automaker Tata Motors Ltd (TAMO.NS) said on Monday it was exploring the sale of a portion of its stake in Tata Technologies through an initial public offering (IPO). Tata Technologies, a product engineering and digital services company, was founded in 1989 as a unit of Tata Motors. The automaker held a 74.43% stake in the company as of March 31, the latest annual report showed. Air India to spend over $400 mln to refurbish cabin interiors
  + stars: | 2022-12-08 | by ( ) www.reuters.com   time to read: +1 min
BENGALURU, Dec 8 (Reuters) - Air India would spend more than $400 million to refurbish the interiors of its entire wide-body fleet to attract more flyers after the carrier was taken over by Indian conglomerate Tata Group at the start of this year, it said on Thursday. The refurbishment will involve introduction of a premium economy cabin, it said in a statement, adding that the first aircraft with refurbished interiors will enter service in mid-2024. "Air India has committed to attain the highest standards of product and service befitting of a world class airline. We know that, at present, the cabin product on our 40 legacy widebody aircraft falls short of this standard," the company said. Once known for its lavishly decorated planes and stellar service, state-owned Air India was swept into a downward spiral due to mounting debt and ballooning losses.
Air India has implemented a new set of regulations regarding the appearance of its cabin crew. Some rules focus on cabin crew hair, especially if it indicates aging. Male cabin crew members are allowed to wear wedding bands. Earlier this year, Tata Group circulated a new policy that required Air India cabin crew to undergo body mass index and weight checks before flights. Air India argued that overweight crew could be a hazard in an emergency, but the Air India cabin crew union objected citing concerns about crew members' mental health and the lack of a medical professional present at the checks, India Today previously reported.

NEW DELHI, Nov 19 (Reuters) - Tata Group-owned Air India is in talks with Boeing and Airbus (AIR.PA) about ordering new aircraft and is meeting its immediate needs by leasing planes and repairing grounded aircraft, the airline's chief executive said on Saturday. Wilson said Air India planned to expand its fleet and global network, aiming to increase its market share to 30% on both domestic and international routes over the next five years. At present, Air India has a domestic market share of about 10% and an international market share of around 12%, according to industry estimates. Air India said in September it would lease 30 Boeing and Airbus planes, expanding its fleet by more than 25% as part of the drive to boost market share and to improve service levels. Industry sources said in July that Air India was moving closer to a decision on an order worth $50 billion at list prices to be split between Airbus and Boeing.

The stores will have a bright red facade showing Tata CLiQ Palette branding, with 70% of the products inside being skincare and make up, according to the Tata document. The new stores should drive "sales across channels as a leading Beauty Tech destination for Gen Z & Millennials," the Tata document says.

Buttigieg said under the settlements ultra-low-cost carrier Frontier Airlines (ULCC.O) was required to pay $222 million in refunds and will pay a $2.2 million penalty, while Tata Group-owned Air India will pay $121.5 million in required refunds and a $1.4 million fine.
