Thousands of people, including rescue workers, family members, journalists and officials gathered at the site of the rescue in India’s mountainous Uttarakhand state to watch the final stage of the rescue.
Hundreds of miles away in the villages of eastern India, where many of the men are from, and around the country, people have watched the televised blow-by-blow progress of the rescue since it began on Nov. 12.
