The first good thing about Rascal was his wiggling, leaping “You’re awake!” greeting at the start of every day. Because the second good thing about Rascal was his irrepressible joy. There is no gratitude like the gratitude of an animal rescued from a life of pain and fear and hunger. The third good thing about Rascal was his undimmed delight in what may have been the first real home he ever had. He turned laundry folding into a game of keep-away, and then a game of tug of war.

But what about the guilt parents feel from letting their kids use screens? Their research focused parental guilt over letting their kids use screens more than developmental psychologists say they should. Not surprisingly, parents who feel guilty about their kids’ screen use are more stressed and less likely to report positive relationships with their kids, according to the data. CNN recently talked with Walter about his research, how parents can change their thinking about kids’ screen use, and the impact of screen time guilt on the family system. The concrete jungle is an increasingly unfriendly playground for young kids and their parents. Families with kids under six years old are more than twice as likely to leave New York City than families without young kids, according to a new report from the Fiscal Policy Institute, a left-leaning think tank. To make matters worse, many parents of young kids were thrown into a panic several months ago when New York City Mayor Eric Adams announced he would cut $567 million from public preschool programs for three-year-olds. Between 2020 and 2022, 17,500 millionaires moved into New York City, while 2,400 left, FPI reported last year. Have you left New York City or State because of rising childcare and housing costs?

The Shein spokesperson said the company had a "zero-tolerance policy for forced labor" and required its "contract manufacturers to only source cotton from approved regions." "Shein suppliers and third-party sellers are required to comply with company policy and certify their products do not infringe third-party IP." The national film archive was blown open in battle, its treasures now yellowing in the sun. Artillery shells soar over the Nile, smashing into hospitals and houses. Khartoum, the capital of Sudan and one of the largest cities in Africa, has been reduced to a charred battleground. Another nine million have been forced from their homes, making Sudan home to the largest displacement crisis on earth, the United Nations says. Fueling the chaos, Sudan has become a playground for foreign players like the United Arab Emirates, Iran, Russia and its Wagner mercenaries, and even a few Ukrainian special forces.

CNN —Twenty-four hours and 26 minutes, without stopping to sleep: Nepal’s Phunjo Lama has just broken the world record for the fastest ascent of Mount Everest by a woman. Her journey from Everest Base Camp to the top took 14 hours and 31 minutes, then the descent from Everest was another nine hours and 18 minutes. Due to the limited climbing season and challenging conditions on Mount Everest, the window to reach the top of the mountain is small. That record was broken in 2021 by Hong Kong native Ada Tsang in 25 hours and 50 minutes. Currently, the record for fastest ascent by a male climber is 10 hours and 56 minutes, set by Nepali Lhakpa Gelu Sherpa in 2003.
