Niccol's overarching message: A bunch of changes, both big and small, are coming to Starbucks' menu, mobile app and stores that should satisfy all parties involved. Starbucks stock didn't do much in the five sessions since then, ending Wednesday at $97.32 a share. Starbucks is far from a quick fix, but Niccol on Wednesday night demonstrated that the optimism may not be misplaced. As for mobile orders, which account for more than 30% of transactions, the CEO said Starbucks will tweak its algorithm so that it provides specific pickup times to customers. Investors are hoping Starbucks' stock returns are reminiscent of that tenure, too.

A police officer and a suspected shooter were injured Tuesday after gunfire erupted at a Midtown Atlanta building occupied by a Four Seasons hotel and residences, authorities said. The officer was hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries, Atlanta Police Chief Darin Schierbaum said at a news conference. Police responded to the high rise after 10 a.m. following a dispute between a Four Seasons worker and the man on the 33rd floor, which is occupied by residences, Schierbaum said. The Four Seasons hotel takes up 19 of 53 stories of the high rise and occupies 244 rooms, 23 of which are designated suites. Brian Carr, spokesperson for the Midtown Alliance in Atlanta, said the high rise also includes 96 residences and 97,000 square feet of office space.

The Nasdaq Composite rose to a fresh record on Tuesday as investors readied for key corporate earnings releases, including reports from notable tech names. The tech-heavy Nasdaq advanced 0.78% to a record close of 18,712.75. Ahead of their earnings releases, shares of Meta jumped 2.6%, and Alphabet advanced 1.8% on Tuesday. This will mark the busiest week of the earnings season with more than 150 S&P 500 companies scheduled to have reported by Friday’s close. Notably, the blue-chip Dow broke a five-day losing streak, while the tech-heavy Nasdaq notched its eighth positive session of the last nine.
