CNN —After winning the US Open at just 18 years old, Emma Raducanu had the world at her feet. Speaking to The Sunday Times, Raducanu touched on the side of sporting success that many don’t see and the impact it has had on her. “When I won I was extremely naive,” Raducanu admitted. Raducanu won the 2021 US Open, becoming the first qualifier to win the major, after defeating Canadian Leylah Fernandez 6-4 6-3 in Flushing Meadows’ first all-teen final since 1999. And sometimes I think to myself I wish I’d never won the US Open, I wish that didn’t happen,” Raducanu acknowledged.

Gen Zers and millennials are continuing to rethink their identities in relation to their jobs. But there is a strong desire among these generations to achieve better work-life balance. In fact, more than any other trait among their peers, Gen Zs and millennials admire the ability to balance work and life priorities, the survey found. Both Gen Zers and millennials worry that if the economy worsens, it will make it more difficult for younger workers to ask for flexibility at work and improve their work-life balance, the survey found. Though respondents do believe employers have made progress enabling better work/life balance since pre-pandemic, according to the survey.

Binge eating disorder is the most common eating disorder in the United States. What is binge eating disorder? Binge eating disorder is a relative newcomer in the world of diagnosable mental health conditions; it entered the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, which clinicians and researchers use to classify mental health conditions, 10 years ago this month. But the behaviors of binge eating disorder are distinct, he said. People with binge eating disorder also tend to eat more quickly than usual during an episode; many also eat in secret and grapple with guilt, said Kelly Allison, the director of the Center for Weight and Eating Disorders at the University of Pennsylvania.

The wedding industry is beginning to see the fallout of this shift away from tradition. That meant "wedding TikTok" — with its dancing groomsmen and videographers turned influencers — was the next best thing. "So it is time for us in the wedding industry to expand the definition of what a perfect day means." Adrienna McDermott spent nine years in the wedding industry before starting a marketing agency for wedding professionals called Ava and the Bee. "It really opened up my eyes for the power of TikTok," Lee said.
Few workers enjoy the hassle of commuting to the office five days a week. Studies show that commuting is the main reason many don't want to stop working from home. A recent report by Centre for Cities, a UK think tank, suggested that policymakers should "encourage the benefits of office working while reducing the costs to workers of doing so." But Paul Swinney, its policy and research director, told Insider that employers could say commuting costs are covered by salaries, leaving companies "reluctant to set a precedent." ShutterstockBut many workers don't just regard commuting as a waste of money.
The HPV vaccine protects against the strains that cause most HPV-related cancers. But not every country has the same vaccination options, which is part of the reason WHO has been pushing to change the way doctors give the HPV vaccine. A one-and-done approach to the HPV vaccine could be a huge help around the world, experts say. But she’d also like more people to get the HPV vaccine. So I think that’s really, really important,” Abraham said.
CNN —For decades after returning home from World War II, my grandfather did not talk about his wartime experiences. Frank Murphy, the grandfather of CNN's Chloe Melas, after he was captured and taken a prisoner of war by the Nazis in 1943. Everyone could see the physical toll of war on his body, but we didn’t know about his invisible wounds. After World War I, it was “shell shock”; post-World War II it was known as “combat fatigue,” and after Vietnam it was called “post-Vietnam syndrome.” In 1980, the American Psychiatric Association officially recognized it as post-traumatic stress disorder, or PTSD. “When your grandfather and my grandfather served in World War II, they didn’t talk about it,” Paul Rieckhoff, founder and CEO of Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans of America, told me.

Donald Trump Jr. expressed opposition to a conservative boycott of Bud Light and Anheuser-Busch. Conservatives have blasted Bud Light's partnership with popular trans influencer Dylan Mulvaney. Trump Jr. on his podcast "Triggered" praised Anheuser-Busch as an "iconic" company. The boycott began when many conservatives became incensed that Bud Light partnered with Mulvaney, a transgender TikTok influencer, during this year's NCAA basketball tournament. But in the face of a Republican supermajority in the Florida House, Democrats' more than 50 amendments failed as Florida representatives sent a six-week ban to GOP Gov. "Let's delay this abortion ban for as long as we can." During the 2022 midterms, congressional Democrats used abortion rights as a rallying cry and managed to hold onto more seats than expected. The implications of the Florida abortion ban on the 2024 race loomed in the background throughout the day. "It amounts to an outright ban," House Minority Leader Fentrice Driskell of Tampa said on the House floor.
WASHINGTON, April 13 (Reuters) - The 2019 release of the first image of a black hole was hailed as a significant scientific achievement. There is also a larger "brightness depression" at the center - basically the donut hole - caused by light and other matter disappearing into the black hole. This supermassive black hole resides in a galaxy called Messier 87, or M87, about 54 million light-years from Earth. The M87 black hole image stems from data collected by seven radio telescopes at five locations on Earth that essentially create a planet-sized observational dish. "The image we report in the new paper is the most accurate representation of the black hole image that we can obtain with our globe-wide telescope."
Despite being bigger and more advanced than its enemy, Russia's air force has struggled in Ukraine. It's commonly said that Russian fighter pilots are not as well trained as their Western counterparts, particularly those from the United States. But however ineffective you may think Russian pilot training is compared to the West, the truth seems to be … much worse. A Russian air force pilot prepares to take off in an Su-35 fighter jet at Hemeimeem air base in Syria in September 2019. Put simply, the Gulf War air campaign creates a damning juxtaposition when compared directly to Russia's air campaign over Ukraine.
But while OpenAI became synonymous with AI, its competition hasn't sat still. Other AI model makers see a growing opportunity in the concerns around OpenAI, and want to pounce on the opportunity. Amazon, not one to miss a promotional activity, then directed its programmers to use its own AI model called CodeWhisperer. OpenAI's determination to dominate the field meant it created a more general AI model that others could add on. However, it also leaves an opening in the market for more specific AI models that organizations in sensitive industries will flock to.

The latest development in AI: humanity has decided it can say "no." Elon Musk was one of more than 1,000 people to sign an open letter calling for a six-month pause on advanced AI development. The letter cited several potential risks to humanity and society, including the spread of misinformation and automation of jobs. Bosses have forgotten how to say "good job" — and it's driving employees to quit. Big Tech's big downgrade.
Miami Beach's mayor recently said officials "don't want spring break in our city." Spring break is among the reasons the state generates billions of dollars in tax revenue per year from tourism. But there are signs that booming population growth, which Florida's Office of Economic and Demographic Research has described as the state's "primary engine of economic growth," could help diversify the state's economy. The number of arrests in the city during spring break more than doubled in 1986 from the same period in 1985. While thousands of college students still frequent Fort Lauderdale during spring break, the city's current mayor, Dean Trantalis, described them as "very well behaved."
Former President Barack Obama said more states should drop degree requirements for government jobs. It's an example of "a smart policy that gets rid of unnecessary college degree requirements and reduces barriers to good paying jobs," Obama said on Twitter. In recent years, states have eliminated four-year degree requirements to shore up their understaffed governments, and Republican governors have led the way. Arizona and Oregon have temporarily loosened degree requirements to address a teacher shortage. Georgia and Alaska are considering dropping degree requirements to fill government vacancies as well.
But past attempts to train up more workers have seen the problem get worse by some measures, and any big improvement to the post-16 skills system is likely to take years. TRAINING REVAMPWithout a rapid overhaul of the training system, Britain's pool of highly skilled adults is likely to shrink further relative to other countries, the OECD has warned. Employers groups are calling on Hunt to tackle a key part of how training is funded in his budget speech. Corporate leaders acknowledge employers also need to do more themselves, and prioritize training even in lean times. "You're slowing down really quite a lot to go at the pace of the education system," he said of his company, which began as a print management firm in 1996.

Some 74% of the 1,000 consumers surveyed said they had experienced a product or service problem in the past year. The rising dissatisfaction is accompanied by more frequent and aggressive complaints, according to the National Customer Rage study. At the same time, more companies have been turning to automation to cut costs and cover staffing shortages in their standard customer service. But that strategy is prone to angering customers further, the rage research found. Customer service technology such as artificial intelligence is less likely to be able to deliver that craving for empathy than human agents, Mr. Broetzmann said.
