Currently the CEO of Toyota's luxury brand Lexus, Sato will succeed Akio Toyoda as the CEO of Toyota on April 1. Under Toyoda, the automaker has followed a go-slow approach to electric vehicles, arguing that the hybrid technology it pioneered with the Prius will remain important along with investments in hydrogen. Sato started his career at Toyota in 1992, before rising through the ranks to become chief engineer of Lexus International in 2016, according to his profile on the Toyota website. That passion was obvious in a brief video clip released in 2021, where Sato sits next to Toyoda as they test-drive a Toyota Lexus. As Toyoda accelerates and whoops excitedly, Sato can be seen with a wide grin and occasionally laughing, unable to contain his delight.

LONDON, Jan 24 (Reuters) - Liberty Media-owned Formula One has accused FIA president Mohammed Ben Sulayem of interfering with its commercial rights by publicly questioning a reported $20 billion valuation of the sport. They also fuel the sense of an emerging turf war between the governing body and a commercial rights holder eager to grow an expanding and increasingly popular championship in new directions. Sky Sports News reported that Formula One's legal head Sacha Woodward Hill and Liberty Media counterpart Renee Wilm had sent a joint letter to the FIA accusing the governing body of exceeding its remit. "The FIA has given unequivocal undertakings that it will not do anything to prejudice the ownership, management and/or exploitation of those rights," Sky quoted Formula One's letter as saying. There was no comment from Formula One and no immediate response from the FIA.

The Williams Racing team has won nine World Constructors' Championships and seven World Drivers' Championships in Formula 1. He said all F1 teams faced the challenge of "how to spend the money wisely and be highly efficient." "We won't be as competitive as someone with a few years of experience in F1," Capito said. Audi will build the engines in Bavaria and that is familiar territory for Sauber, who entered Formula One in 1993 and whose last stint as a proper works team was with BMW between 2006-2010. "The partnership between Audi AG and Sauber Motorsport is a key step for our team as we continue to make progress towards the front of the grid," said Sauber Motorsport CEO and team principal Frederic Vasseur. Adam Baker, who is now chief executive of Audi's Formula One project, was a race team engineer at BMW Sauber where in 2007 he also became head of the race and test team for the BMW F1 Powertrain. Then, as now, Sauber offered the attractive prospect of a ready made team without the hassle and expense of starting from scratch.
