An $81 million superyacht linked to a Russian oligarch is reportedly set to be auctioned off. The 81.2-meter Alfa Nero has been linked to Russian chemicals magnate Andrey Guryev. An Antigua and Barbuda government minister reportedly said the "abandoned" yacht risks becoming a "hazard." The 81.2-meter Alfa Nero was built by Oceanco and can accommodate 12 guests in six staterooms and 28 crew, according to Boat International. The Treasury department said in August that the Alfa Nero was a "blocked property" of Guryev's, and that he reportedly bought the yacht for $120 million in 2014.
After languishing on the market for years, late oil tycoon T. Boone Pickens' massive Texas ranch has finally found a buyer. It was a controversial move: Several environmental rights organizations opposed the sinking of the ship because of the asbestos it contained. "The sinking of the aircraft carrier Sao Paulo throws tons of asbestos, mercury, lead and other highly toxic substances into the seabed," Greenpeace said in a statement, per Reuters.

Southwest will pay pilots an estimated $45 million in bonuses for working during the service meltdown last year, per CNN. Some 9,400 pilots are expected to be paid 50% of their regular pay, CNN reported. Networking site InterNations has released its latest ranking of best and worst cities for expats, and Europe accounts for some of the best cities — and some of the worst. A district judge proposed for Holmes to be sent to a prison camp at Bryan, Texas, court records show. Holmes was sentenced to 135 months in prison on November 18. District Judge Edward Davila recommended for Holmes to be designated to the Federal Prison Camp at Bryan, Texas, according to a November 21 filing. The Federal Prison Camp in Bryan is a minimum-security prison that houses female inmates. Holmes was sentenced to 135 months, or 11 years and 3 months, in prison on November 18.
A stowaway cat had snuck into a man's suitcase at JFK Airport, TSA said. TSA discovered the cat in an X-ray image, after staff noticed the outline of the animal. On November 16, TSA officers noticed the outline of a cat in an X-ray image during the screen of a passenger's suitcase, spokesperson Lisa Farbstein told The Washington Post. A photo posted by Farbstein showed the cat's rust-colored fur peeking from the zipper of the suitcase. One photo of the X-ray image showed a glowing red outline of the cat, and several of the passenger's belongings, which included wine glasses and bottles, as well as flip flops.
A Facebook manager of over two years said she was laid off while on maternity leave. Meta laid off 11,000 employees, or 13% of its workforce. Patel said she received Meta's layoff email at 5.35 a.m. after several of her coworkers sent her text messages saying they were laid off. Patel, former director of communications at Eventbrite, said she was scheduled to be on maternity leave until February next year. Other Meta employees wrote "badge posts" — departure messages with a photo of their ID cards — upon receiving the dreaded layoff email from the company, according to a recent Insider report.

A Meta employee said he was laid off two days after moving from India to Canada for work. Meta laid off 11,000 employees, or 13% of its workforce. Himanshu V., a software engineer from India, wrote in a LinkedIn post on November 10 that he was one of the thousands of employees affected by Meta's mass layoffs. Himanshu is not the only employee suddenly laid off by Meta days after relocating from India. Neelima Agarwal, a software engineer who moved from India to Canada in November, said she was laid off two days after joining the company.
Elon Musk said he has too much work on his plate. At a virtual Q&A at the G20 Summit, Musk said he works from "morning to night, seven days a week." In a virtual interview at the G20 summit in Indonesia on Monday, Musk talked about how his workload has changed since his $44 billion acquisition of Twitter. Employees were promised at least one year of remote work benefits, a lawsuit against Twitter says. The decision is an attempt by Musk to find another way to downsize the company's workforce, says the lawyer who's suing Twitter. Musk laid off around 3,700 Twitter employees in his first weeks at the helm of the company. On November 3, several Twitter employees filed a lawsuit against the company for terminating workers without notice. "We are also changing Twitter policy such that remote work is no longer allowed, unless you have a specific exception.
The manufacturer of the world's largest cargo plane has announced plans to rebuild the aircraft. The plane, which is also known as "Mriya," is said to cost over half a billion dollars to rebuild. Antonov Co., the state-owned Ukrainian manufacturer of the An-225 cargo plane, said in a statement posted on Facebook that design work has begun on a second unit of the aircraft. The An-225, also known as "Mriya," was destroyed by Russian forces in an airfield near Kyiv in February. Gavrylov said the company plans to sell airplane merchandise to obtain additional funds and attract sponsors, per Bild.
