The principal of the one-room schoolhouse he attended for high school was not amused. “He said to get out of the gambling business or get out of high school,” Mr. Laughlin told The Review-Journal. By 1954 he had saved enough to buy a restaurant in North Las Vegas, the 101 Club. But Mr. Laughlin was restless. He learned to fly — it became his passion — and began scouting the state for an alternative to Las Vegas.

An op-ed headline about Gaza being “LGBTQIA2S+ Mecca” is a fake and has been falsely attributed online to The Guardian columnist Owen Jones. The fabricated headline, shared on social media in a screenshot resembling a page in The Guardian newspaper, reads: “Without Israeli oppression Gaza can become a LGBTQIA2S+ Месса”. A spokesperson for The Guardian told Reuters in an email that the screenshot “has never been a published Guardian headline or story”. Jones said that the image was "definitely faked" in a message over X.Reuters has previously addressed other fake Guardian headlines. Located at the heart of Jerusalem's walled Old City, the Al-Aqsa Mosque is regarded by Muslims as the third holiest shrine in Islam, following Mecca and Medina. The altered video shows a huge crowd gathered at the compound accompanied by chants in Arabic of “Here I am Aqsa”. Pray for Palestine.”But the audio track is edited and was taken from a May 2021 video. Reuters traced the original video to a Facebook account of an East Jerusalem photographer, Fwaz Tobasy, who shared it on April 17, 2023. The audio in the photographer’s footage from April differs: the Al-Aqsa Mosque muezzin can be heard performing Azan, the call to prayer, while an additional audio track of a religious song is added on top.

Former collegiate coach Jon Neeter bought a tennis center in Santa Monica, CA for $40,000 in 2010. He converted his single tennis court into four pickleball courts and business is booming. Plus, he liked the idea of his work being concentrated in one place, rather than scattered at various tennis courts all over LA. A standard pickleball court is 20 feet wide by 44 feet long, much smaller than a tennis court. Plus, he was unsure about how he was going to replicate the Santa Monica Tennis Center anywhere else in LA.

[1/6] Supporters of Iraqi Shi'ite cleric Moqtada al-Sadr gather for mass Friday prayer during a protest in solidarity with Palestinians in Gaza, in Baghdad, Iraq, October 13, 2023. Hamas, which rules Gaza, urged Palestinians to rise up on Friday in protest against Israel's bombardment of the enclave, calling on them to march on the mosque and to confront Israeli troops in the occupied West Bank. The militant group said Palestinians should stay at the mosque through Friday, when Muslims hold large weekly prayers. Rallies were planned in Rome, Munich, Istanbul, Belgrade and other cities in support of the Palestinians and to protest against the bombing of Gaza. Israel has since been pounding Gaza with airstrikes and artillery fire in retaliation and more than 1,500 Palestinians have been killed.

A "big victim" of the escalating Israel-Hamas war "is efforts at Saudi and Israel normalization," Fred Kempe, CEO of the Atlantic Council, told CNBC. Iran's mission to the United Nations has denied Tehran's involvement in the militant group's attack on Israel on Saturaday. "More timely for Tehran is that it is looking to slow down Israeli Saudi normalization and through the attack, it might have achieved that," Vakil said. With the Hamas attack on Israel, "it's very clear that Saudi Arabia will take a more gradual approach to normalization," she said. And Iran is consistently messaging to its Gulf neighbors that any attack on Iran from Israel will lead to a domino attack on the Gulf.

"When the football project started here, it seemed like a huge project in all respects, and I wanted to be a part of it and help advance the game in Saudi Arabia, and this is one of the reasons that made me come here," Benzema said in an interview with the Saudi Pro League, posted on messaging platform X. "Also, Saudi Arabia is a Muslim country and they welcomed me with open hands, and I felt loved immediately. I am really surprised by the level in Saudi Arabia because in Europe we don't watch a lot of football matches here," the 35-year-old added. "But now there are lots of people (in Europe) who are watching the Saudi league after many big names were brought in."

She does so not in an especially nostalgic or imitative fashion, but more as a decoration. Doja Cat also varies her rapping technique in ways that recall these bygone eras. “Love Life” nods to the mid-90s proto neo-soul of Groove Theory, and Doja Cat matches it with a percussive flow that recalls Ladybug Mecca of Digable Planets. After four years at the company, Wang left but chose to stay in New York to launch Bearworks, providing software to sales reps. In 2014, prior to the run of New York City IPOs, California was the leader, followed by Massachusetts and then New York. During the record fundraising year of 2021, New York startups received almost $50 billion across 1,935 companies. “And we work very hard to give water back when times are tough. One study on a Colorado river found that salmonflies accounted for slightly more than half of the trout diet. They have receded or disappeared altogether on 500 miles of river in Montana. Another climate-related threat to Montana’s fly fishing is the appearance in some rivers of invasive small mouth bass, a warm water species that prey on trout and could decimate fisheries. State officials have proposed emergency regulations on the Bitterroot River, for example, that require anglers to kill and report any small mouth bass they catch.

Saudi Arabia doesn't recognize Israel as a state and has refused to do so since the latter's independence in 1948. A deal between Israel and Saudi Arabia could dramatically reshape the geopolitics of the Middle East. Saudi Arabia wants military promisesAnother big challenge is what Saudi Arabia is demanding of Washington. But even if a security guarantee and more advanced weapons access demands are met, U.S. backing for a Saudi nuclear program is likely more challenging. Any deal on this is also complicated by the fact that Saudi Arabia has its own natural supplies of uranium and intends to mine them itself.
