The Atlantic did not publish a headline about a man flashing a 6-year-old child at the New York City Pride parade, a spokesperson for the media outlet confirmed. A screenshot of a purported article on The Atlantic with the headline, "At this weekend's Pride parade a man exposed his genitals to my 6 year old. The 1972 Apollo 17 lunar module’s ascent from the Moon was captured by a camera mounted on a rover left behind on the lunar surface and controlled from Earth, although social media posts are using the video to question whether the mission ever happened. However, there is no record of an event called the “123rd annual Texas Country Jamboree” (bit.ly/44iEF9v), and the state of Texas has no city called “Hambriston,” the event’s location cited in the article (bit.ly/3NO4pW3). The headline originated in an article published by the satirical website Dunning-Kruger Times (here). The claim that American country singer Garth Brooks was booed off the stage at the 123rd Annual Texas County Jamboree stems from a satirical website.

This is a standard, annual military exercise. The video shows armoured vehicles of the Canadian Armed Forces being transported within Canada and is not evidence of any heightened military activity in the U.S.

The Zamfara state government ordered Matawalle to return all state vehicles in his possession but he refused, a spokesperson for the current governor reportedly said on June 9 (here). The video of luxury cars was filmed outside the residences of former Zamfara governor Bello Matawalle.

A video clip purportedly showing an ABC News segment about an Amazon delivery driver selling stolen packages and buying a sports car with the profits was fabricated, according to both the TikTok user who claimed credit for creating the video and a spokesperson for the U.S. television network. “Amazon package thief buys a Lamborghini after reselling the stolen items he took online,” read posts sharing the fake ABC News clip on Facebook and Twitter (here) and (here). The chyron on the fabricated clip reads “AMAZON PACKAGE THIEF BUYS LAMBO.”No such news segment exists, however, on ABC’s website (abc.com/) or its YouTube channel (bit.ly/465FtAq). A spokesperson for ABC News also said in a telephone interview that the clip is inauthentic. ABC did not broadcast a news segment about an Amazon delivery driver selling stolen packages and buying a Lamborghini with the proceeds.

A satirical article about U.S. President Joe Biden switching the Stars and Stripes flag of the United States at the U.S. Marine Corps War Memorial in Washington D.C. with a Pride flag was shared online as if it were factual. Posts on social media shared a photograph in which the monument, representing the U.S. victory on the Japanese island of Iwo Jima during World War Two, bears a Pride flag instead of its usual American flag (here). However, the claim stems from a satirical website and the image circulating is digitally altered. Christopher Hershey, Chief of Staff at the George Washington Memorial Parkway, maintained by NPS and where the Marine Corps War Memorial is located, said in an email that the U.S. flag at the monument has not been replaced. This allegation stems from a satirical article by website Babylon Bee.
