Single women face unique challenges when planning for retirement, so I asked an expert for help. Plus, women are often put in a caregiving role, which means time off from work — and not contributing regularly to retirement funds. So how can single women like me juggle with inflation, a higher cost of living, dwindling income, and the gender wage gap to be on track for retirement? I asked Marie Thomasson, a certified financial planner and founder of Modern Assets, an LA-based financial advisory firm for independent, progressive women, for tips on how single women can steer the course and make sure they're on track with their goals for retirement planning. Reassess your retirement accountsOnce you have your financial bases covered, you can venture into investing and retirement planning, says Thomasson.

Earlier this week, the company started charging new users $1 in New Zealand and the Philippines as a test case for accessing the platform. Musk has acknowledged that the platform has taken a hit on revenue and has blamed activists for pressuring advertisers. To generate revenue, Musk started charging $8 per month for the blue check subscription service and tried to woo advertisers back to X with offers of discounts.

The UAW last expanded its strikes on Oct. 11 when members walked out at Ford's Kentucky truck plant, the company's largest and most profitable plant globally. Starting in November, many corporate workers at Walmart and Sam's Club, its warehouse chain, will be reclassified into fewer groups of possible titles and pay, the report added. Around 4%, or 2,000, will receive an eventual reduction in stock-option awards as part of the change, the report said. The change is "good compensation hygiene," and ensures Walmart is "appropriately rewarding similar levels of work," Lupo said. Why more women are choosing to be child-free
  + stars: | 2023-09-25 | by ( Harmeet Kaur | ) edition.cnn.com   time to read: +11 min
Demographers point to a number of factors driving this phenomenon: economic insecurity, political uncertainty, shifting gender norms and a lessening stigma around the choice to remain child-free. In the past, women who could have been inclined to remain child-free might have given birth anyway because that is what society expected from them. Even so, women who choose to remain child-free say they still feel like they constantly have to explain their choices to others. Women who opt to remain child-free say they still experience judgment for their choices. The assumption that child-free women don’t care about children simply isn’t true either, some say.
