Now, the show's creator, David Chase, warns that the golden age of TV — that has seen series such as "The Wire" and "Breaking Bad" — may be over as smart shows face an existential threat. As he was working on a script with screenwriter Hanna Fiddell about a prostitute forced into witness protection, Chase told The Times that he was told "the unfortunate truth" that the script was too complicated. Chase and Brad Grey, who was the show's producer at the time, pitched "The Sopranos" to several networks, including Fox. Marvel Cinematic Universe actor Jonathan Majors will stand trial on assault charges next month after a New York judge Wednesday denied his motion to dismiss the case. Following the alleged assault, Jabbari, a choreographer, was taken to the hospital for "minor injuries to her head and neck," police said at the time. Majors has denied the claims against him and brought a misdemeanor assault counter-charge against Jabbari, alleging that she attacked him. Jabbari has since been granted a temporary order of protection against Majors, according to Variety. Additionally, Majors' defense team has filed another motion to shield certain sensitive evidence from the public to ensure Majors' right to a fair trial.

If you've watched HBO's "Silicon Valley" or NBC's "The Office," you've seen several examples of obnoxious aggression and manipulative insecurity exhibited by leaders. It almost goes without saying that actual managers shouldn't look to mimic Michael Scott, or the command-and-control culture dramatized on television. Instead, leaders should strive for what former Apple and Google executive Kim Scott calls the radical candor approach, showing that you care personally while challenging directly. "It's rare that we do both at the same time, especially with feedback at work, but really feedback in any part of your life," Scott said. "At the core of radical candor is a good relationship between manager and employee, between peers, and up, down and sideways," she said.

As a doorman, he connected with a resident who ran a different dry-cleaning company, and offered to teach him the economics behind the business, he said. After getting fired from his doorman gig, Henry realized he was learning more at the dry-cleaning company than at school, so he dropped out, he said. Pleased with the work, the wardrobe supervisor recommended Henry's dad to NBC's "Law and Order." After 148 days of striking, TV and film writers reached a tentative agreement with studios and streamers regarding their work contracts. WGA members will vote on ratifying the agreement between Oct. 2 and 9, with some writers going back to work as early as next week. That could mean more early career writers get an opportunity to work and gain experience on the ground. Without an opportunity for syndication and international distribution on streaming services, residual pay for writers has been cut significantly as well. The contract also hikes minimum pay for various types of television shows and establishes minimum pay for late night talk shows on streaming services, like "The Amber Ruffin Show," which did not previously have established minimums.
