They seem to be slowing down, and that's creating fewer job openings," he said. While that sluggish pace of hiring is making the fall feel less robust than in some years, Mullinix said there are steps job seekers can take to stand out. That's causing some to list fewer job openings. That can make it harder for job seekers, of course, and for recruiters who have to sift through a pile of applications. CNN —Next week, an already very public debate over whether Ukraine should be allowed to use long-range Western-supplied missiles on Russian soil will come under an even brighter international spotlight. It was almost exactly a year ago, also during an in-person meeting with Zelensky in the United States, that Biden made the decision to supply the ATACMS to Ukraine. In both cases, Ukraine promised not to use them on Russian territory. Russia recently relocated planes from two bases near the border further east, according to one US official. Sovereign wealth funds out of the Middle East are emerging as key backers of Silicon Valley's artificial intelligence darlings. In the past year, funding for AI companies by Middle-Eastern sovereigns has increased fivefold, according to data from Pitchbook. Few venture funds have deep enough pockets to compete with the multibillion-dollar checks coming from the likes of Microsoft and Amazon . MGX was launched as a dedicated AI fund in March, with Abu Dhabi's Mubadala and AI firm G42 as founding partners. But there is an alternative to a fire sale: They can use life insurance to foot the bill with a neat trick. Instead of owning a life insurance policy directly, they take out a policy and put it inside a trust. The irrevocable life insurance trust (ILIT) collects the death benefit, pays the tax bill, and distributes whatever is left according to the insured individual's wishes. For an ultra-rich taxpayer with a $10 million life insurance policy, using an ILIT could save $4 million in taxes. Make sure you're getting a life insurance policy that makes financial sense.

Investment startup Intelligent Alpha is working on launching the Intelligent Omaha ETF , with the ticker AIWB, that relies on AI to emulate the Berkshire Hathaway CEO's investment philosophy and create a portfolio of 25-30 stocks that it thinks Buffett might buy. It remains to be seen how deeply AI could understand Buffett's unique investing style that has evolved significantly over seven decades. All about AI Intelligent Alpha has been testing its Buffett strategy for six months and the portfolio AI puts together would overlap Berkshire's by anywhere between 30 to 60%. "The vision for Intelligent Alpha is to build the AI-powered BlackRock," Clinton said. "There are two big pillars, serving retail investors [through Registered Investment Advisors], and then there's serving institutional investors."

It could be time to rethink popular portfolio strategies for a lower interest rate environment. The Federal Reserve's half-percent rate cut on Wednesday marked the first time in more than four years it moved to lower the benchmark interest rate. According to VanEck CEO Jan van Eck, investors should start thinking about how the changing macro environment will affect their investments in the year ahead. "We're going to be in an easing cycle, so small-cap companies are going to be benefited by lower interest rates," the firm's chief ETF strategist said. With rates finally beginning to fall, van Eck points to the federal deficit as the next potential challenge for markets.

The largest single-contributor donations went to MAGA Inc., the super PAC backing Trump, with Wisconsin roofing billionaire Diane Hendricks, a prolific GOP megadonor, giving $10 million to the group. On the Democratic side, tech entrepreneurs were the biggest donors to FF PAC, also known as Future Forward, a super PAC backing Harris’ presidential bid. Moskovitz donated $3 million to FF PAC, while Hastings, Jeff Lawson and Erica Lawson each gave $1 million. Super PACs like FF PAC and MAGA Inc. are havens for prolific political megadonors like Hendricks, Lutnick and Hastings because, unlike campaigns and their affiliated committees, super PACs don’t have limits on how much individuals can donate. When Vice President Kamala Harris took the reins of the Democratic nomination in late July, something happened in North Carolina. Part of the Harris campaign strategy in North Carolina, according to a campaign official, includes attempting to bulk up turnout not just among Black voters but among women in and around the suburbs. For the week after Harris became the presumptive nominee, there was a 61.5% increase in voter registration among North Carolina women. Bonier takes all of this to point to a higher turnout of Democratic voters in North Carolina. “The way you win statewide in North Carolina,” he said, “is you win on the margins.”

The Harris campaign also dramatically outspent the Trump campaign in August, burning through about $174 million. By comparison, Trump’s campaign spent just $61 million last month, with the lion’s share – more than $47 million – going toward media buys. The Trump and Harris campaigns are aligned with an array of committees that file disclosure reports on a separate schedule. The Trump campaign, as CNN has previously reported, has opted to outsource much of its ground game operation to outside organizations. The super PAC spent more than $77 million in August, including nearly $62 million on independent expenditures to benefit the vice president’s campaign.

Khurana thinks what has made boomers the wealthiest generation — stocks and housing — also makes them a risk to economic stability. AdvertisementSuch a scenario is an '"underappreciated risk," he said, given how much boomers' spending habits have fueled economic growth in recent years. The demographic spends around $548 billion a year, more than any other generation, according to a report from marketing research firm Epsilon. AdvertisementBroken down by each generation's holdings of property and stocks, boomers accounted for 42% of all real estate ownership and 54% of all corporate equity and mutual fund ownership. That's not to say boomers will cause the next recession, but the risk during a recession is dialed up under the current paradigm, Khurana said.

The lockup agreement first took effect when Trump Media went public in March, following a merger with a blank-check firm called Digital World Acquisition Corp., or DWAC.
