China's decision may escalate trade disputes globally and spur other countries to prioritize research into alternative sources and materials, industry executives said. It has graphite supply deals with Syrah Resources (SYR.AX) and is looking for other sources, DeMaio said. Synthetic graphite could account for nearly two-thirds of the EV battery anode market by 2025, Benchmark Mineral Intelligence estimates. CNN —An unknown story by Truman Capote has been published for the first time, after it was discovered hiding in plain sight in a red notebook belonging to the acclaimed author. Capote, a famous American writer and novelist, was born in New Orleans in 1924 and died in 1984. “Then in a red notebook, there was a handwritten short story from Truman Capote. “The whole work of finding these unpublished works is something which I have to say is satisfying when it comes to fruition. But generally it’s something very, very frustrating, because you’ll find that you’re always coming up with nothing,” he told CNN.

Exxon combined its once separate chemicals and oil refining businesses and redesigned operations to quickly shift between fuels and chemicals based on which delivers the highest profit. Its fuels outlook differs from oil-consuming nations group International Energy Agency, which expects the use of oil for transportation fuels to decline after 2026. "We have the hypothesis this could be a game changer for Exxon Mobil," McKee said. The company's 564,440 barrel-per-day (bpd) Baytown, Texas refinery, which is co-located with a chemical unit, will allow it to evolve from primarily making fuels to chemicals, Williams said.

CNN —Armand Duplantis reached seventh heaven at the Diamond League Final on Sunday as he yet again broke the pole vault world record. Ethiopia’s Gudaf Tsegay also broke the women’s 5,000-meter record with a time of 14 minutes, 0.21 seconds. Sweden’s Duplantis needed just one attempt at 6.23m – a centimeter higher than his own record set in France earlier this year. Duplantis clears 6.23m at Hayward Field -- the seventh time he has broken the world record. Tsegay’s effort means that the women’s 5000m record has now been lowered by nearly 11 seconds over the past three years.

The news prompted Liontown shares to shoot up 11.5% to A$2.92, the highest since July 14. Liontown controls two major lithium deposits in Western Australia, including its flagship Kathleen Valley project slated for first production in mid-2024, which is among the world's largest and highest-grade hard rock lithium deposits. Albemarle's latest offer for Liontown was its fourth, having also proposed A$2.20 per share on Oct. 20 last year and A$2.35 per share earlier in March before its rejected A$2.50 a share offer was made public.
