OSLO, Jan 23 (Reuters) - Swedish industrial technology group Hexagon (HEXAb.ST) said on Monday its adjusted fourth-quarter operating profit had risen 12% year-on-year to 418 million euros ($455.54 million) and that sales were up 15% in the same period. Analysts had on average expected an adjusted EBIT of 420 million euros, according to Refinitiv Eikon. Operating net sales amounted to 1.40 billion euros in the fourth quarter while analysts on average had expected 1.39 billion. The German government in late September agreed to take over Fortum's Uniper subsidiary, effectively nationalising the gas importer to try to cover losses incurred after Russia cut supplies. Fortum on Monday said it would sell its Uniper shares to Germany for 0.5 billion euros ($532 million) and get back a parent loan of 4 billion euros, in line with the earlier agreement. The new owners of the business, that has some 40 employees, come from the management of Ericsson's Russian subsidiary, the company said in a statement. Built to make 6 million tyres per year, the Romanian plant is set to replace some of the lost output from Nokian's now divested Russian operation which had the annual capacity to produce 17 million passenger car tyres. The new plant will allow the company to "start building the new Nokian Tyres without Russia", Chief Executive Jukka Moisio said. The new factory, which Nokian aims to make the industry's first zero CO2 emissions plant, will employ 500 people. Nokian said it chose Oradea in northwest Romania because it was conveniently located to sell tyres in central Europe and green energy was available near the site.
