I traveled to my first Art Basel, an international art fair hosted each summer in Basel, Switzerland. Collectively, this made up Art Basel, the world's premiere art show, where more than 250 gallerists feature 4,000 artists. Photo Basel and the Liste Art Fair Basel are hosted on the same weekend. Read previewMy family of four – my husband, two teens, and myself – sailed on the Disney Fantasy this spring. Perhaps surprisingly, this is on par with the higher end of what a family can expect to spend on a seven-night Caribbean cruise: about $270 to $2,600 a person. I don't regret our WiFi or bingo budgetsWe bought an intermediate WiFi package for $490 and spent $152 on bingo. We don't usually spend money on WiFi while cruising, but decided to get a package since this was a longer sailing. We usually play at least one round of bingo and usually don't win much, but my kids enjoy it, and it's something we do as a family.

In April 2019, Karl Stanley, a fellow submersible expert, joined his peer, OceanGate CEO Stockton Rush, near the Bahamas to take a dive in an early iteration of the Titan vessel. Stanley, Rush, and two other passengers successfully plunged more than 12,000 feet — a depth that closes in on the Titanic's wreckage, which sits at the bottom of the Atlantic at about 12,500 feet. According to Wired, this defect forced Rush to delay the trip to the Titanic and build another Titan submersible. "I just surfaced from a 4-hour dive," Stanley wrote to BI on Thursday.

Hogue was a senior web developer at a nonprofit called CharityEngine and an adjunct web developer professor at George Mason University in northern Virginia. In 2018, those businesses out-earned his full-time income: He made nearly $135,600. In retrospect, he could've done both sooner, he adds: The more time you dedicate to building passive income streams, the more money you can make. Now, Hogue makes $11,400 per week in mostly passive income, according to documents reviewed by Make It. Here's his advice on when to leave your full-time job in favor of a side hustle, and when it's smarter to stay.

The worker worked for Circle K and Parker's Kitchen, a South Carolina-based chain of convenience stores and gas stations, by claiming shifts through Shiftsmart. I am homeless, and gig work is pretty much the only thing that kept me above water. I would go to Circle K and work as a cleaner and merchandiser. Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi gestures, at the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) headquarters in New Delhi, India, June 4, 2024. Adnan Abidi | ReutersThis report is from this week's CNBC's "Inside India" newsletter which brings you timely, insightful news and market commentary on the emerging powerhouse and the big businesses behind its meteoric rise. Far from rewarding Prime Minister Narendra Modi's party with a supermajority — as polls had predicted — Indians elected 240 BJP lawmakers to India's 543-seat Parliament, which falls short of a simple majority for Modi's party. However, as the largest party, the BJP will form a coalition government thanks to its alliance with smaller parties ahead of the elections. This "radical transformation" is expected to lead to a significantly more efficient economy and help India's currency, according to Sullivan.

Jensen Huang used to worry about not having enough time to accomplish everything he wanted. These days, the billionaire Nvidia CEO and co-founder wishes he hadn't worried so much. Huang's younger self would probably disagree with him, he added — but you should be able to do everything you want if you "prioritize your time really carefully." Be strategic about identifying and focusing on the most important things that need your attention at work and at home, Huang advised. Huang joked about skipping out on sleep in order to find more time in a 2003 speech at Stanford University.

After the Dow Jones Industrial Average topped 40,000 last week, CNBC's Jim Cramer reflected Monday on his many years in the business, saying investors should take a step back and realize how far the market has come. At first, Cramer admitted he felt somewhat cautious about celebrating the milestone, thinking back to the Dow's great losses over his decades-long career on Wall Street. But then Cramer remembered when the average was at 1,000, saying perhaps he should "demonstrate some confidence" in the market after all these immense gains. To Cramer, investors don't need to be" cheerleaders" for the market, per se. "I could've tossed the Dow 1,000 hat and gone and become a lawyer.

How do you feel about painted furniture?" Halfpoint Images/Getty ImagesDemand is up for vintage wood furniture — without paintPart of the backlash certainly stems from the current state of the furniture industry, in which it's increasingly difficult to get your hands on brand-new, high-quality furniture. As a result, the secondhand furniture market is booming, with vintage furniture sellers proliferating on places like Instagram and Facebook Marketplace. The flippers said most of the hate comments tend to come from flips of midcentury modern furniture, in particular, a beloved and lasting design aesthetic from around roughly the 1930s to 1970s. Despite all the vocal online haters of painted furniture, there's a reason furniture flippers do it: the pieces sell.
