Amazon on Tuesday announced a new prescription perk for U.S. Prime members, hoping to boost subscriptions and attract users to its pharmacy service. Amazon introduced, then shuttered, a telehealth service called Amazon Care, and announced in July it would acquire boutique primary care provider One Medical. Amazon also offers a Prime prescription savings benefit, which offers a discount of up to 80% on generic medications and up to 40% on brand-name prescriptions. An August report from Morgan Stanley found Amazon Pharmacy didn't rank as a top perk for Prime members, based on a survey of users, according to Business Insider.

The Federal Trade Commission on Friday asked that notorious "pharma bro" Martin Shkreli be held in contempt of court for forming a new drug company in violation of a judge's ban on the convicted fraudster from working in the pharmaceuticals industry. In its court filing Friday, the FTC noted that Shkreli in July announced the formation of a new company, Druglike, "that appears to be involved in the drug industry." The FTC said Shkreli is required by Cote's order to provide the agency with that information. Benjamin Brafman, a lawyer for Shkreli, declined to comment on the FTC filing. Shkreli was driven back to New York from his prison in Pennsylvania by a friend, Edmund Sullivan, who had previously served on the board of Retrophin.
Some teachers said they’ve also heard of students being required to film short videos that elaborate on their thought process. Public schools in New York City and Seattle, meanwhile, have already banned students and teachers from using ChatGPT on the district’s networks and devices. Reid, the professor at Coastal Carolina University, believes teachers should work with ChatGPT and teach best practices in the classroom. Reid said teachers could encourage students to plug an assignment question into the tool and have them compare that result to what they personally wrote. “Like with other new technologies, this could be a tool instructors use to help students express their ideas,” she said.

The former FTX CEO bailed out and took over crypto firms as cryptocurrency markets withered with Terra's spring crash. Today, BlockFi filed for bankruptcy in New Jersey, after weeks of speculation that the FTX collapse had fatally crippled it. The FTX "death spiral," as BlockFi advisor Mark Renzi put it, has now spread to another crypto entity. According to Renzi, exposure to two successive hedge fund failures, the FTX rescue, and broader market uncertainty all conspired to force BlockFi into bankruptcy. Both firms have already collected millions in fees from BlockFi in preparation work for the bankruptcy, according to court filings.

The biggest companies in media and entertainment are telling investors to focus on revenue and profit instead of streaming subscriber growth — that message backfired on Disney Tuesday. Disney added 12.1 million Disney+ subscribers and 14.6 million total direct-to-consumer customers in its fiscal fourth quarter. A year ago, the robust streaming growth numbers may have pushed Disney shares higher. But media and entertainment executives are pushing investors to value their companies on profit and revenue instead of purely subscriber growth. Total quarterly Disney revenue of $20.1 billion missed the average analyst estimate by nearly $1 billion, based on Refinitv consensus estimates.

Even earlier in the session, when all three major U.S. stock indexes were in the red, STZ shares were slightly in the green. "Pricing optionality" — jargon that really just means raising prices to help offset rising costs — is another part of Wedbush's bullish case. The Club's take Wedbush's positive note comes less than a week after Constellation released its very solid second-quarter results . Just as we saw little to nitpick in the company's numbers and guidance, we see little to disagree with in Wedbush's STZ thesis. Gabby Jones | Bloomberg | Getty ImagesBenefits of bundlingFor consumers that buy many streaming services already, purchasing a bundle of them for a discount would be an instant money saver. For corporations, pushing together streaming services reduces the number of people who cancel each month, known in the industry as churn. But those companies also offer their own competing streaming services – The Roku Channel, Prime Video and Apple TV+, respectively – which could deter broader partnerships. Wireless companies already offer promotional pricing to streaming services as sign-up bonuses. From the standpoint of niche services, Peacock hasn't come to them with a coherent strategy, according to several people familiar with the talks.
